S22 Ultra unlocked -wifi calling?
I'm trading my att 512gb Note 20 Ultra in for the S22 Ultra. This time around I find the unlocked version in Samsungs exclusive red and 1TB of storage more appealing than the att offerings. Will I lose my wifi calling and other features if I go with the unlocked version? Thank you for any info anyone may have.
Thank you

That is the million dollar question every time a phone is released. Unless something drastic changes it should work just fine.

Thanks for the response. I'm sorry for all the questions but I've only ever had att branded phones for the last 15 years. As far as enabling those features on an unlocked device will I need to call att or should they work right out of the box? And is there anything I will be losing by going with an unlocked device? I do like the ability to search the web while on the phone at times too and I hear that's an att specific feature as well?
Thanks again

searching while on the phone is not a ATT only thing. Years ago and I mean years Verizon would not do it.
The software will look different in some places but it will work just like your phone now.

Hi OmlorML! We are here to address your new Samsung Galaxy S22 purchase inquiry!
We are not able to guarantee that all features will work on your new unlocked Galaxy S22 Ultra device when purchased elsewhere. You should be able to search on the web with your new unlocked device as GLIMMERMAN76 stated.
We hope this helps! Reach back out to us if you have additional questions. Thank you for reaching out to the AT&T Community Forums!

Atthelp,
Will you have this information available anytime soon and is there a reason it would possibly not work? Is it att that will not allow it or is it samsung software? It is frustrating to have to choose between hardware and software features.
Thank you

Historically the new phones will hit the market and Wi-Fi calling and 5G will work out of the box. But the new phone will not show that it is certified until after AT&T reprints its online PDF.
I don't believe that an AT&T customer service representative can give you an answer they're not authorized to give.

Hey there @OmlorML, thanks for your response and we'd be glad to provide that information to you regarding the difference between the devices.
Please be advised, that when AT&T has Samsung make "Branded AT&T" devices are tailored to our network and carrier specifics to ensure that they run smoothly and seamlessly as possible. When Samsung makes it's own "Carrier unlocked" devices, they build them to fit over the broad spectrum of criteria that would make them viable for all carriers.
While unlocked devices are great and will often work perfectly fine on AT&T given they are new and 5G capable, we highly recommend the AT&T branded devices as they're made for our network and have the least probability of any kind of errors running on our network.

@ATTHelp
That is the worst formulated response I have seen from a ATT rep since being on the boards. ITS THE SAME PHONE PERIOD the only thing different is the phone boots with a ATT Bootsplash. Samsung quit making carrier tailored phones years ago. Its either a u or u1 thats the only difference.

Maybe I am reading more into that post.. opinions?
