Phone won't make or receive calls
Hi, so phone won't make or receive calls but is fine with texts and internet and the rest of everything.
The bills paid
Not in airplane mode
Tried restarting
Tried airplane mode then deactivating
Removed Apps that could be fishy
Cleared my internet info
And finally just went and factory reset my phone.
And still will not make calls.
I've tried businesses and friends but just get the "can't connect" with beep beep beep beep.
My husband and kid s both have functioning phones. However my mother in law is having the same issue on her iPhone through atnt and I have a Samsung... so... what's going on? Just started yesterday.

I understand, @Timbeh0617. The accusatory tone, without even trying to understand the problem and knowing the facts was what really made me impatient with the volunteers. I was not waiting for abuse by a bunch of stereotypical techies after days of wasting my time with incompetent AT&T personnel.
I appreciate the help people are trying to provide, but the apologetic finger-pointing was not helpful. I hope that will change to make this forum useful, again.

Just like 5Ge is really LTE, aka, fake 5G
Just like At&t to spin the Buffalo chips

Yesssss
The number of times I have explained the difference between 4 G, and 4G/LTE, why you cannot use your Huawei P30, why voice over LTE matters, why AT&T does not owe you a premium phone, etc
Actually I swear I was going to be sick this week.... 😂🤒

Yup, @formerlyknownas. And the so-called 5G roll-out is messy. And it's going to be a problem down the road.

It would have been helpful if you would have read what people were writing, @formerlyknownas, as it would have saved us and yourself a lot of aggravation. Yes, as a user, I missed the VoLTE requirement, but AT&T also missed that VoLTE requirement, since they never sent out notifications that 4G LTE users would be sacrificed in the 3G shutdown. No notifications, and a support force that is not aware of that.
By the way, I never asked for a premium replacement phone, but for a phone that could serve as a bridge so I could make and receive voice calls for the money I am paying. Instead, I was faced with flippant remarks that it somehow was all my fault. Yeah, right.
Thanks for your trying to help where AT&T fails.

We get it completely as AT&T has done a bad job all around with this except for the very early notices they sent out 2 years ago. Outside of that, wow .. it's been really bad. That's another side of our aggravation..
Its not just on them, but a lot of it is. A lot of things causing confusion too.
Like
phones that should work don't, some that shouldn't do work. Some people recently getting new service with phones that should've never been allowed on network.
Rest of this "short lists and weird issues with IMEI lists" is on phone manufacturers for not getting phones certified or not getting a complete list of IMEI for phones that are certified...ect.
It's been bad all around and I'm pretty sure where gonna see tmobile/sprint issues in June/July (Sprint 4g LTE is going away, think that's going to cause problems with some sprint phones that should work) plus all 3g is going away in July for them.. Then Verizon at the end of the year.
Just got a feeling it's gonna be bad all around. Lol

AT&T did notify, starting summer of 2020, in multiple ways. Email, text, sending out new phones as early as a full year ago, and shutting off phones.
I have written it many times, AT&T did not do this the way it should have been done. They didn't do it the way I would have done it. But no one pays me for my opinion, so... Here it is, fouled up.
And you keep referring to 4G/LTE user being sacrificed in the 3-g shutdown which is not true.
Without VoLTE (voice over LTE) the phone won't work. It does happen that some phones have LTE data and text messages, but are not voice over LTE capable.
I would say maybe half the people you'd speak to an AT&T would have any idea what any of this means. Frequently don't know the difference between 4G and 4G/LTE or voice over LTE. Forget the call centers, clueless.
This whole transition fell on AT&T to properly inform and train its employees and continually update them with a usable whitelist, not just for AT&T, but for firstnet which has more limits.
Didn't happen.
In the past two months we have seen multiple people claim that they have put a Huawei phone or an unlocked phone on the network and now they've been kicked off two months later. How the heck did it get on the network?
This doesn't happen at Verizon. The king of blocking phones that aren't whitelisted.

Nailed it again.
Seriously, I would have loved a couple hours to tell At&t everything they need to change since 2014. From the ka-ka 2fa, to the ka-ka 3g shut off.
I have repeatedly seen posts from a t t helped referring to the shutdown of 3G service and the future dependence on 4G, when it's wrong. Seriously how can they have people on this forum as customer support who don't know the difference between 3G, 4G, and 4G LTE well enough to explain it?
