Phone won't make or receive calls

Hi,  so phone won't make or receive calls but is fine with texts and internet and the rest of everything.

The bills paid

Not in airplane mode

Tried restarting

Tried airplane mode then deactivating

Removed Apps that could be fishy

Cleared my internet info

And finally just went and factory reset my phone.

And still will not make calls.

I've tried businesses and friends but just get the "can't connect" with beep beep beep beep.

My husband and kid s both have functioning phones.  However my mother in law is having the same issue on her iPhone through atnt and I have a Samsung... so...  what's going on?  Just started yesterday.

My phone is on the Att list of phones that should work. It is a Galaxy S8 (G950U). I however did not purchase it at an Att store. Why should it matter where you buy a phone!

A couple of weeks ago, Moto G 5Plus stopped making/receiving calls, ok so no longer compatable. Put sim card in my wife's old moto g7 play and all good...for about a day, then no calls again. Called att tech, and they could not resolve, had them send me new sim card in case that was a problem. While waiting for sim card, kept trying to call out  (auto weather station number) just in case it would work and one time to my surprise  it re-directed me to att advanced tech support. He said that because in was phone not sold thru ATT (factory unlocked) that the cell towers were blocking it. He said he could fix and he did...at least it worked for a few days, then all of a sudden again no voice calls. We were on a trip by that time, so I decided to buy a new phone that was on the compatable list (Nokia G20 model TA-1343). Put in my old sim card and all was good, again for only about a day. When we got back from  trip, I put in the new sim card ATT had sent, called and had it activated and once again all was good...for about a day, then again no making or receiving calls.  Have spent several hours with tech support, advanced tech support, supervisor for advanced tech support and all they could say was sending ticket to backroom service dept. There other suggestions were to buy another phone even thought they agreed this one was compatable, or change our  plan even though our other phone on the plan works fine. We have unlimited talk/text, and 35gig shared data with rollover. We also get $25 credit on each line monthly for not having contracted phones. At this point I'm thinking they don't lilke me being on this plan or having non contracted phones. I realize there are a lot of things I don't know, but how could changing the plan (when the other phone works) make a difference?  Sorry for the long post, but this has been 2 weeks of insanity for someone who has been with ATT since 1997.

Unreal, after 5 weeks or so of no phone calling in or out and having ordered a new phone from AT&T... My phone suddenly started working. I did an update through my former T-Mobile updates and I have called and received several. I just hope this isn't some crap where the AT&T network drops me all the sudden after I try to cancel my new phone order. Wish me luck.

I've been having this same problem on my unlocked Nokia g20. This worked for me. Go to settings then network settings then apn settings there will be 2 or 3 on mine there is three. Ones NXTGENPHONE the other is ATT phone switch to att phone. It worked for me idk why because every open is the same as the other apn but 🤷🏼‍♂️. And then if you're having a hard time with dat type *#*#4636#*#* I'm the dialer that'll get you to testing menu from there click network type and since mine isnt 5g compatible I chose LTE/GSM/TWCDMA. GOOD LUCK!

I decided to try a few more things on my Nokia G20. Settings>Network & Internet>Mobile Network>Advanced=shows automatically select network and then scroll down>Access Point Names=shows ATT Nxtgen phone, ATT Phone, ATT WAP. I tried all 3 different settings and then restarted phone. When ATT WAP was selected and then phone restarted, phone showed emergency calls only, but I could make and receive calls normally as far as I could tell, but no text msgs or data allowed. I then went back and changed the setting from ATT WAP to either ATT Phone or ATT Nxtgenphone (do not restart phone) and I could still make calls and now had text msgs and data. Unfortunately, only lasted about 20 minutes then no calls again.  Don't know if this info makes sense to anyone or could help resolve the issue that others are having, but am hopeful.

Update: 1) Monday evening I did the *#*#4636#*#*  and under phone information, the voice LTE was not provisioned and I had no way to do it.  I tried several of the network types and  discovered gsm/wcdma would allow me to make and receive calls. Also, from my settings>network & internet>mobile network>preferred network type I had 3 choices: 2g, 3g, 4g (preferred). Changing this setting from 4g to 3g, did the same thing as changing the network type stated earlier. The connection in my icon bar showed 4g instead of LTE data as before, and  the connection speed was slower but at least I could make/receive phone calls as well as text msg/data.

2) When I checked my phone this morning (Tues) , I had a notification of system update and need to restart phone to finish which I did. Afterwards, I now have VOLTE like I'm supposed to have and when checking with the test number, it now shows voice LTE provisioned. I'm assuming this is a result of the ATT advanced support ticket I initiated last Thursday, or my additional call to advanced support on Monday (which wasn't pretty). Anyway, I hope this unbelievable scenario is finally over and phone will continue to operate correctly. Again, this is on a Nokia G20 model ta-1343

Hello. I'm trying to figure out the right firmware to flash.  I have the A51, SM-A516U. Software version is A516USQS9DVC2.  This phone is whitelisted, but no VoLTE option.  I have downloaded Odin and am ready to roll  just want to verify what firmware to use.  Thanks!

Hi Everyone,

I'm having the same issue that other people are having here in the forum. I'm currently using a LG Velvet 5g (Model LMG900UM) at&t branded phone that I purchased on ebay. It's unlocked already, as other people have stated I can send and receive text messages but I can't make or receive phone calls. I've tried turning on airplane mode and turning it off, I have great mobile data signal strength at my location. Currently when I check what type of connection I'm currently receiving it's showing 5g. When I try to make a call it never tries to connect, but goes directly to a second screen that displays 'call ended'. At this point I really don't know what else to do to fix this issue.

@Davy49

Unless your phone has all of the correct updates, which it may not get since you are not using AT& T for service, it may never work.

formerlyknownas,

But I am in fact utilizing the at&t network for my mobile data service, I just use red pocket mobile to actually pay for that service. Thanks again for at least trying to help me.
