Phone won't make or receive calls

Hi,  so phone won't make or receive calls but is fine with texts and internet and the rest of everything.

The bills paid

Not in airplane mode

Tried restarting

Tried airplane mode then deactivating

Removed Apps that could be fishy

Cleared my internet info

And finally just went and factory reset my phone.

And still will not make calls.

I've tried businesses and friends but just get the "can't connect" with beep beep beep beep.

My husband and kid s both have functioning phones.  However my mother in law is having the same issue on her iPhone through atnt and I have a Samsung... so...  what's going on?  Just started yesterday.

You keep repeating the falsehood, @formerlyknownas, that AT&T notified people on 4G LTE phones that their phones wouldn't work after the 3G shutdown. That's just not true, no matter how often you repeat that lie.

Regular customers - who just use their phones - had no clue what hit them. Only hobbyists like you knew what was coming, because even many professionals were clueless about the VoLTE requirement.

I understand you are trying to do good. I appreciate that. But not everybody is a hobbyist, and we, AT&T customers, are not supposed to be painted like 'stupid dogs', because of assumptions and a lack of reading on your side. Please let that sink in for a moment. It will help you in the future. Have a great life, my friend.

Spent 4 hours with AT&T trying to get this resolved. Two phones, both ATT. The SIM in one works in either. The SIM in the other works on neither. Went to the store and tried a new SIM. Then another. Same issue: no calls made or received, but text and data is fine. I just spent another hour on the phone with a "supervisor" who then put me on hold and hung up on me. I've been ATT customer for about 20 years. Thanks for convincing me to switch to T-Mobile.

to anyone not on VOLTE or can not make calls... type this into your keypad:

*#*#4636#*#*

click on "phone information".

is VOLTE Provisioned ON or GRAY and toggled OFF?

if gray and toggled off, you can try and deal with advanced customer support, but whether it right or not, ATT BLOCKED your IMEI from accessing their VOLTE features. i'm 99% sure they will tell you to go F yourself (figuratively) if you kindly ask them to provision your IMEI for VOLTE.

yes, even if your phone is on the white list. basically, buy a new phone from them or LEAVE. i've been a customer for over 21 years. my phone is a NEW Galaxy S10 which is on their whitelist. they WILL NOT provision it for VOLTE because it's not an ATT phone.

it's technically no one's phone. it's factory unlocked.

AT&T will probably lose customers over this, I know I will be switching very soon.

Yep, T-Mobile is cheaper anyway. My Ex Husband has had no coverage issues with T-Mobile,  and used them for years. He's probably still with T-Mobile.  Looks like my money will be going bye bye from AT&T after being a 20 year customer.

My phone is doing this exact same thing. At least the internet and text messaging worked with old sim card. Got a new sim card today, and now NOTHING works! AT&T doesn't even have a link where you can type in your phones info to see if it's compatible with its network anywhere on the website!  Verizon, and T-Mobile both have a link to check that . Both say my phone will work well on their networks.  So why won't it work with AT&T now?!  My phone is a Samsung S20 5g mind you! Not even a year old ,and no longer compatible with AT&T network? Plus my phone is paid off. It's not like I want to downgrade by trading it in, or endup paying way more for a phone as good as the one I already have. It's absolutely ridiculous.

@ATTHelp

After TWO DAYS, 6 HOURS AND THREE TIERS of technical support, I was transferred to a "courtesy" department. She basically told me that I needed to buy a new phone from AT&T. When I told her I'd be a T-mobile customer tomorrow, miraculously she "tried something" and the phone worked again. Well, it worked for ONE outgoing call, so considered it solved. That was, until the next morning when it didn't work again. What a load of crap. I've been a customer since 2004. I will not be a customer in April 2022, unless AT&T makes me an offer I can't refuse. Good luck with that one.

Regards,

Newest T-mobile Customer

Former Disgusted AT&T Customer

p.s. Clearly you didn't read my message closely. The SIM from one phone works in either phone. The other SIM works in neither. Please do not patronize me again by telling me it's my phone that needs to be replaced. Samsung S10+ and S10e, by the way, but we both know that's not the issue.

@s8ilver hey, that's better than i got when i threatened to leave! and i've been a customer since the beginning of 2001. haven't gone to T mobile yet though, because i need a mental health break. LOL!

i'm guessing she "passed" your IMEI... but they must have some sort of subroutine that goes through IMEIs and automatically kicks them back off VOLTE.

here's how asinine this whole thing is... it's like if ATT said "sure, you can use your unlocked device on our network, but if it's not an ATT device, you will only be able to HEAR, but the microphone for voice will be disabled unless you buy a phone from us".
