Note 4 5.1.1 Update error

When I try to update, it downloads, restarts, gets about 1%, then says error. It reboots back to my lock screen and doesnt update. If I try to go to settings and then check for updates, I have to wait another 24 hours...

I've booted holding the power, home, and volume up buttons and wiped my cache. when it reboots from there, it tries to install the update upon reboot, but then says "no command"

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I can't wait to see my phone run like everyone says it does on this update!

Edit: BTW, on stock Touchwiz. Never been rooted.

Thanks in advance,

Wes

Fixed.

Clear the cache from Settings --> Storage ---> Cached Data and select to clear it.

Then change Date and Time in settings a day or 2 ahead of what day it is.

Then check for updates again.

That's it!

Hope this helps some people.

Happy updating.

I know the update us 694mb and I have 1.94gb free. Not sure why it's failing. Anyone else have any suggestions? Should I try Kies?

The update requires 3 to 4 gigs of memory be available. Remember that 684mb file is compressed and needs to be Un compressed for install.

I'm running into the same problem and have 6.7GB free internal storage. Storage space isn't the problem.

I have 6.47 Gb free on internal storage. I should be good on space on the install, so that is not the problem for me, as far as I know.

Please keep going with suggestions!

Just take the phone to a samsung experience center inside a best buy and have them flash it for you.

Also you might want to check with att to make sure the imei of your note 4 is the one in there system.

Clered my cache under storage settings which freed 8gb. That worked. Advanced my date and It updated fine.

Same here, stock ROM and over 10 gigs of system memory free on the device storage (more on the sad card but I'm not counting that) so memory isn't the issue.

I'll check and make sure the IMEI on file matches the device.

I have two Galaxy Note 4 devices the following steps below worked on both phones.

After multiple failures I cleared the interal cache and the unmounted cache partition and the update installed.  I had initially just cleared the cache partition which didn't fix it so I'm not sure if doing both fixed it or just doing the internal one fixed it.  What I know is that clearing just the unmounted cache partition didn't fix it.  Below is how you clear both.

Clearing internal Cache: Settings | Storage | Cached Data | select to clear it. (I had 6GB of data in the cache)

Clearing unmounted Cache partition: Shut down phone | Hold- Power, Home & Up Vol till you feel vibration | let go of Home and Power continue holding Up Vol | when recovery mode loads let go of Up Vol | Using Vol Down choose Wipe Cache Partition (DO NOT WIPE THE PRIMARY PARTITION) | Press Power button to select it | Choose restart phone.

Now download the update again and it should work.

My wife's galaxy Note 4 and my Galaxy Note 4 are both erroring out when attempting to update. Both have over 10 GB of space free and I wiped partion cache, wiped cache from settings, cleared cache in the AT&T software updater and deactivated all device Administrators on the phone. Attempted to install 4 times on both and updates fails immediately upon startup of install. AT&T has to know there is a problem. I know 7 people (family members and co-workers) with AT&T Galaxy Note 4's and only one was able to update successfully after 3 attempts. Only thing he did was cleared cache, which I've done the last 3 times.

Hey I've tried to clear the cache and still get the error? Any other ideas?

Also fails for me. AT&T please fix!

Tried 3 times.

Cleared Cache partition, and the External cache (Settings > Storage > ...).

0% .. then Error. It keeps ticking along 1% 2% 3% but I presume that's spurious, since it'd already error'd.

Same thing here. Download, start install gets to 2% then reboots and shows update interrupted. I've cleared the cache through both methods. Almost 10 gigs free. Has to redownload the update everytime... tried at least half a dozen times, probably more. My wife's note 4 updated on the first try...

I finally solved this on my note 4. I didn't have enough internal free-space. You could either delete stuff you don't need or see if you can free up the temporary files by trying this: Go to settings, general, storage and then click on 'cached data'
It will ask you to confirm clearing the cache. Confirm and then verify you have more than 4GB free. Then retry the update. You may need to wait another 24 hours before you can download again or change the date manually and check again.
