No Kies, No problem

Since my purchase of the Galaxy S6, along with everyone else, I'll be looking forward to Samsung Link and Samsung Kies being updated to work with my new phone.

But for now, Samsung has an updated Smart Switch that will allow you to backup your phone to your computer ( PC or MAC ).

The backup just created another folder in your Documents/samsung folder and it's thankfull not a .bak like Moble Trans.......looks very similar to the Kies folder.

Here's the link, if it's allowed:

from what I read smart switch is the new kies.  All the tech news outlets are saying they are not updating kies going forward and they will use smart switch for PC/mac.

Yes that is true. Kies 3 still works with my Note 4 but every time I boot up the program it tells me that Kies is now Smart Switch and asks me to download the new program.

Kies and smart switch both still look like a 15 year old wrote them.  With samsung as big as they are this software should look stunning and be user friendly.

I like Kies 3 much better than Smart Switch. Kies let you choose where to
put the backup folder.

"Like a 15 year old wrote them" ? ? ? ?

You gave WAY too much credit to Samsung on that.......Also insulted many 15 year olds.

I'd say.....maybe a couple of 3 year olds at best.  LOL......

I really, really like Kies 2.whatever......you could still look at or edit contacts.

Oh well......at&t is probably getting most of the cost of the phones anyway.  Keep buying them, though.....I'm retired at&t and need that pension money coming in for many more years....lol

I tried Swart Switch and it keeps freezing in the middle of it. Tried uninstalling and installing. Didn't work. Since I already have Akruto, which syncs Outlook with my Android -- I added my S6 phone and it worked! Thought I'd share in case anyone is struggling with Kies or Smart Switch.

I found the solution to Samsung Link not working, it also fixed the problem with me not "seeing" the extra 100gb of free storage from Samsung for M/S OneDrive.

I reset my phone to factory and it fixed both.  Link works now, and got the extra 100gb of OneDrive storage.

Now it's up to at&t..........can you PLEASE update your "AT&T Messages".....it was not preinstalled on the S6 and google play shows it is not compatable with the S6........

Geez......why do phone users have to be "beta testers" for these new products ? ? ?  ?

you didnt have to factory reset to get the 100gb of storage just install sign into the one drive app then uninstall the app and reinstall it.  If you do it from the samsung store you get 15gb more.
