Actually there is a reason.

That V in the model number means it was made for Verizon.  Yes it can be unlocked but that model is not on the handy dandy ATT allowed phone list.

And it picks up 5g signal when I eject and reinsert my sim, this is an ignorant plot to make me spend more money,  I'm switching to spectrum

We can see how frustrating it is to move to a newer device to prepare for the phasing out of 3G network, @Warlockguitarman! Your feedback is appreciated.

We will direct your remarks to the correct point of contact for review and consideration. As you are aware, AT&T plans to end service on 3G/3G HSPA+ wireless networks on February 2022, enabling our network to better accommodate next generation technologies and services.

Customers still using a 3G dependent device (including non-HD LTE devices) or a device not found among those that are tested and approved for the AT&T network are encouraged to upgrade to an HD Voice capable device, upgrade their SIM, or both. For more details about the changes we're making, we invite you to visit 3G Sunset Updates and Information.

We hope this info helps.
