New Samsung Galaxy S6 fails to send text messages

I just "updated" from a Samsung Galaxy S3 to the new S6. Now when I go to send a text message, at least half the time it fails to send. I have full service and I've tried restarting and powering off, waiting for a few minutes and starting up again. Nothing has solved the problem. So frustrating.

Anyone got a fix?

Have been having the same thing happen off and on since Friday, went to att store today and was told it's a samsung issue,. I've only had this new phone for 3 weeks, am not happy with this. The lady at att told me I was the 5th person this weekend to come in with this problem, she replaced the sim card it's still happening. Ugh!

I've spent the last three days jumping through various hoops between AT&T and Samsung. AT&T says it's a Samsung issue. Samsung's response is that I can mail them my phone with a 5-7 day turn around time, not including mail time. So that they can "work on it". I'm sorry, but if it's that serious after having the phone for a couple of months (especially with so many others suddenly having this issue), I want nothing to do with it. I've restarted, reset, wiped the cache, answered the same questions seventeen times... I'm just over it. So glad I paid for a phone that can't even do something as basic as send a text message with any kind of reliability. If anyone comes up with a fix that doesn't require me being without a phone at all for several days, please share.

I just got my S6 active in july.. So it's roughly 3 months old. I have been having so many problems with it, and as of last week, it won't send any text messages, even with full service and 4G. And my battery dies by 10 a.m. and all my phone does is sit on the table all morning. I am ready to get rid of AT&T and go back to verizon. I've never had problems like this before.

I'm getting the same error when sending text messages-"Failed to send"  This started to happen a few weeks ago and has become very annoying.  Could we all go to http://www.engadget.com/ to get more eyes and press on this AT&T failure?

It appears to be only with the Samsung Galaxy S6.

It's happening to the Galaxy S5 as well (running 5.1.1).

4G LTE shows if not on WiFi. Text 'TEST' to 151 fail. Seems to happen to multiple contacts. Happens mostly at home.  Do not use messenger.  Multiple restarts.  Haven't had trouble until 11/1/2015.

Mine started doing this about 3 days ago, it's completely random when it fails and when it doesn't. Everything else but texting seems to be working fine. My mom is having the same problem with her Note 5 as well for the last few days. If it's an update issue they need to figure it out FAST. And AT&T needs to provide bill credits since our service isn't working properly then deal with Samsung to get themselves reimbursed. Text messages are important for my work and not being able to use them is going to make life hard.

We were having the same problem with our new S6 128gb. Called AT&T last night and it is a known issue with the S5 and S6. They told us to go to Network Connections > More Networks > Mobile Networks > Mobile Data and uncheck Enhanced 4G LTE services. It seems to work. They say they are working on a solution.

That worked for me! Started having random text fails a day or two ago. Turned off the Enhanced 4G LTE services and text went right through. Thanks for posting.
