Network lock / blacklisted phone

Att says all I like is getting the phone number the network locked phone was affiliated with. Well I got it from a pawn shop, with strict rules of no returns or exchanges, on top of not being able to give me the customer info because of privacy an security acts, is there anyway to get the number affiliated with the network lock/blacklisted phone. I done sent my.proof of purchase in all done all they told me to. Now I'm at a stopping point... please help

Hey @Clowens28

Getting a new phone can be exciting and we are sorry to hear that the device purchased was not a fully unlocked device.

In order to be able to unlock this device you will have to have the original owner fill out the request online. You are correct in that we cannot supply any information that was attached to the device.

Your other option is to go back to the point of sale and see if they are willing to work with you.

Thank you and stay safe.

Read @lizdance40 response from earlier - once a phone is blacklisted, it's done if you can't get to the original owner (who probably couldn't pay the fees anymore and just dumped the phone). You can't do anything about it, and AT&T won't do anything about it. The pawn shop would have no way to get it unlisted since, well, they aren't the original owner.

If the phone is blacklisted you cant unlock it, or use it on any network.

Its a bad idea to buy from pawn shops, craigslist, facebook because you have no recourse if there is a problem like this.

swappa and ebay with paypal provide support if your sale is not as advertised.

Your proof of purchase is worthless. only an original receipt from original sale to at&t customer is valid.

AT&T is asking for an original proof of purchase. You cannot provide it because you are not the original purchaser. The purchase from the pawn shop means nothing.

They said word for word "email the reciept from pawn shop that'll show you proof of purchase" . I'm was going by what att guy said over phone. I asked several to repeat what he said to be exact that's what he said.. so I dunno I'm just gonna say (Edited per community guidelines) it.. I shouldve been more aware of something like this

Doubt even At&t reps are that ignorant.

HAHAHAHAH this blacklist is a joke!! A month or so after I claimed insurance on my phone the phone they sent me which was the Apple iPhone 7 all the sudden didn’t work when I called it said it was suspended blacklisted I’m the original owner so I’m guessing when they when I claimed insurance that something happened with that phone but I still have not got this fixed six months later I am still fighting with AT&T I get the run around every time after I spend and hour on the phone every time with tech and whoever else yes I’m using my phone now thank god but anytime I try and do anything white it or on the att app it still says suspended!!! Very aggravating when you spend high dollar prices for low class service White No answers

All this does is tell me that you don't have any idea how Insurance works. Guess what happens if you have a car accident, the insurance totals your car and pays you whatever it's worth - ➡️You no longer own the car. ⬅️
If you make a claim with Asurion for your phone replacement, the lost/stolen/damaged phone becomes legally theirs, and they Blacklist it. Damaged phones are suppose to be sent in. If a phone is lost or stolen it is blacklisted so that the thief can't use it.
If you claim a phone is lost or stolen, and ask Asurion for a replacement phone, they Blacklist the original phone and send you a replacement. If you refuse or return or cancel the replacement from Asurion oh, there is still a good chance the process to Blacklist your phone has already occurred and can't be undone.
