Factory reset the phone. If you use Smart Switch with a PC to backup, it's not a hassle really.

Don't think so. Smart Switch is available for OSX and Windows only. If you have another device, you can use Smart Switch for Android to Android transfers.

My phone is still saying "current software is up to date", however it's still showing I have version 5.1.1

I have tried factory resetting my phone and also using smart switch on PC, however I've had no luck.

Can anyone help??

@missbrandijo

you can call tech support and have them force the update

Take the phone to a samsung experience center inside a best buy and have them flash it.

Or wait till your imei is batched in for the update.

Actually restoring can be a majo pain if you do a lot of homescreen configuration then you have to put everything back the way it was. This to takes hours! Now if we had apple products, my understanding is the cloud recovery puts EVERYTHING back the way it was... what a novel idea!

and Smart Switch crashes a lot!

Same seems like Samsung is going down the drain

depends on the home screen you use.  Mine is backed up but I dont use touchwiz as my launcher.

Smartswitch has never crashed on my windows 10 machine.  But then again I only use it when flashing phones.

I'm in this same situation as others with an unlocked AT&T phone on another carrier. I'm stuck in update limbo and wondering what others have done to accommodate.
