Hello @madeirablue

Thanks for posting your question. I’m sorry to hear its taking so long to get your update. This is not typical and I’ll be happy to help you.

12+ hours is absolutely too long for the update to be taking.

I would recommend cancelling the update then wiping the cache partition on the phone and trying the download once more.

Keep in mind that this will not cause any information loss on the phone.

Please follow these steps:

  1. Power the phone off.
  2. Press power>home>volume up at the same time.
  3. You'll see installing system update. You can then let go of the buttons.
  1. You'll then see the android sys recovery menu.
  2. Press the volume down key to navigate down to wipe cache partition.
  3. Press power to select. Once the cache has been wiped you'll see reboot system now.
  4. Select that option with the power button.

The screen will show wiping cache on screen and reboot itself.

Once the phone has been restarted, please attempt to update the phone once more by using these steps:

  1. Under “System“ category select “About device“ icon
  2. Select Software update
  3. Select Check for updates

Please let me know if this helps.

I tried the above suggestion because it was at the 2 hour mark and now it's saying my phone is up to date and that I have to wait 24 hours to check again, but it still has android 5.1.1

I have an unlocked AT&T S6 Edge+, but I'm a T-Mobile customer. I seem to be in limbo as far as Marshmallow updated are concerned: doing a system check always comes back as up to date because technically, I'm not an AT&T customer and of course, there is no way for me to get my carrier's updated either. Can you help?

Since the update to Marshmallow, my fast charging isn't working and my battery drains fast. I already checked the charger, cords and fast charger adaptor. I even purchased new charger, cord and adaptor but still not working. I did the cache partition wipe but still not fast charging. Under Settings > Battery, the fast charging is set to ON. I have tridea to trouble shoot this to no avail. I have not done a total factory restore yet as I was hoping to avoid this hassle. I have read tons of forums and this appears to be a huge issue that is on tons of Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge. A fix should have been issued for this by now. Please assist as I am a very frustrated customer. Phone is a Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Thanks

Factory reset the phone. If you use Smart Switch with a PC to backup, it's not a hassle really.

Don't think so. Smart Switch is available for OSX and Windows only. If you have another device, you can use Smart Switch for Android to Android transfers.

My phone is still saying "current software is up to date", however it's still showing I have version 5.1.1

I have tried factory resetting my phone and also using smart switch on PC, however I've had no luck.

Can anyone help??

@missbrandijo

you can call tech support and have them force the update

Take the phone to a samsung experience center inside a best buy and have them flash it.

Or wait till your imei is batched in for the update.
