I GOT IT!! Man, oh man, was this frustrating. Here's the deal. The Samsung "Email" notification MUST be enabled in the Samsung Gear app on your phone (Notifications > Email > [Selected]) or the Gear S email client will NOT sync emails. You can see as the top option in the screen shot attached to this posting.

hapa619,Thanks for reaching out to us. When you set up the Gear manager, did you select the e-mail to be synced? Are you have problems seeing any other features, like messages or 3rd party notifications? Thanks,Samsung Support ^Kov

that DOESN'T work. Mine is ticked - and it was ticked - and I unticked and re-ticked; still doesn't update!
How can we improve?
