Galaxy S9 Active Release Date

Hi, was wondering if anyone had any updates on when the Samsung Galaxy S9 Active is finally going to be released. We had updates on it 2 months ago and that was about it. They've been talking about it and possible releases as far back as March I think. I'm hoping they release it this month sometime. If anyone has any news, even rumor updates on it, please let me know, thanks!

If the s9 Active does not come out this year I may just have to wait until the s10 or galaxy X. The latest versions from the s7, s8 , s9 series don't feel like much of an upgrade, incremental at best. Nothing that is really better from one to the next. If I am going to get away from the active I want something that has major updates to the feature set and design that is going to be worth it. I don't feel like anything out there now is much of an upgrade at all.

The S7 was the best when it came out.   The S8 was too and screen wise a big leap forward.  (As much as I HATE curved screens)  The S9 was everything the S8 should have been.  It’s really a great phone.  Enough better than the S8 so that I buckled and went and bought the Verizon version when I have the ATT version already.   (Long story short, I switched my main line to Verizon prepaid).

@GLIMMERMAN76 got impatient and missed it ).

if there is a s9 active its going to look like a s8 active...  The s7 active and the s8 active were the same phone just different internals.

I lost my head today and went to Best Buy.  I’m sticking with Verizon for a while and I just couldn’t stand the S8 anymore.  Either it was a bad iteration or I got a lemon.  I’m thinking bit of both.    If you want to “experiment” the ATT S9 is available as a guinea pig.    Otherwise I’ll stash it.   Or sell it.

There are subtle software differences between carriers.

No, the s8 active removed the physical keys, moved the fingerprint sensor to the rear, and changed the active button to the Bixby launcher. They are not the same phone at all.

I know some people with the S8 and have similar complaints about it.  The finger print sensor not working well enough is a common complaint.    The software improvements kinda spoiled me.

I don't mind that. I have the s7 active now, and the only reason I need an upgrade is because I got those stupid pink and green vertical lines in my screen that won't go away. I do know that since I have had a 4000mah battery now I don't want anything less than that. I can go a full 24 hours without having to charge it, with moderate usage. I would buy an s9 active if it comes out, if not I may even consider an s8 active just to have until something better come out.
