Galaxy s6 Active Email Notifications Do Not Work

Upgraded from S4 to S6 Active.  Everything looks good except I do not get any notifiations for new email.  I have checked and double checked notifications and cannot get it to work properly.

I want to use the email that comes with the phone.  I know there are other email apps, but I would like to make this one work properly.

TIA for any ideas.

Hey mvstx,

Thanks for reaching out. We are sorry to hear about your troubles with your email notifications. We are more than happy to help you out with this. There are a few different places where you can enable your notifications.

  • Navigate to settings> Sounds and Notifications. At that point scroll to App notifications and Email Application. Make sure it is turned on from there.

  • If it is already turned on there you can turn them on from the application. Once in the application you can navigate to settings and make sure it is turned on from there.

  • If you are still having problems  are not receiving other notifications you might want to go to Settings> Sounds& Notifications and make sure you have sounds enabled while on the lock screen.

  • if you are still having trouble you can try going into your application manager and delete application cache/data * This should not delete any information but backing up your data is never a bad plan *

Please feel free to reach back out and let us know if any of this information was useful or if you still need help.

  Thanks,

Zoe- Samsung Support

Tried all the steps you outlined. (All notifications were already properly set). I still do not get email notifications.

Hey Mvstx,

Apologies for the delay, we are sorry to hear that this did not help. Have you attempted to completely remove your email account, clear application cache and data, and then re-add your email account.

Please let us know if this helps,

Zoe-Samsung  Support.

I appreciate the time to reply, but I do not want to use other email apps, as I said in my original post.

Gmail is native to the phone also...  You have a google account on the phone anyway.  You might as well get used to gmail as google is making the oems remove that email app in android m and use gmail for everything.

Tried Gmail and it doesn’t notify of new email either. It looks almost the same of the installed email Just different colors.

if your not getting notified of mail on gmail then do a factory reset and
see if it cures the problem.
