Galaxy S22 Plus dual SIM enabled on AT&T network?

I am considering upgrading my One Plus 8 Pro to a Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus.  I know the S22 Plus has a nano SIM and eSIM.  Is the eSIM feature enabled so I can have both telephone numbers active on the S22 Plus?

We'll Be happy to inform you if your eSim feature will allow you to be able to have both numbers active on your device @bfukumoto.

The eSim is available for you to manage and set up on the Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus.

To set up eSim:

  1. From the home screen, swipe down from the Notification bar, then select the Settings icon.
  2. Select Connections, then select Sim card manager.
  3. Select+ Add mobile plan, then select Scan carrier QR code, to use your camera to scan the QR code supplied.
  4. When scanning the QR code, you will be redirected to the Add mobile plan screen. Select Confirm to Add this plan to your phone?

Let us know if this helps.

The phone is supposed to officially hit the market tomorrow. Until it does and until AT&T can verify that it will use the esim, there is no way to answer that question to the affirmative.

Even if the esim is enabled, AT&T may not support it right away.

*The note 20/  20 Ultra does have esim on the AT&T branded phone.

I received my S22 and S22 Plus from AT&T Upgrade program for my wife and daughter already.  There are 5 bars of signal on the S22 Plus without the nano SIM inserted.  When I called AT&T support, the agent in the Philippines said all S22 models were single SIM only which is what their website says, contrary to Samsung's website.  But it could be they are not enabling the eSIM which would be unfortunate since AT&T does enable it on the iPhone.

AT&T said S22 esim will be supported in this post.   Next question is if I can insert China mobile SIM when I am traveling in China. https://forums.att.com/conversations/device-features/samsung-s22-dual-sim-capabilities/621438833ff7904fbc3553e5

@bfukumoto

I do not expect anything other than the s22 ultra to have an esim available or enabled by at&t.

All AT&T phones are locked out of the box until they are paid off and a successful unlock request fulfilled.

This means if you purchase the phone with the pre-order trade-in deal it may be locked to AT&T for the full 36 months.

You may be able to pay off the remainder of the phone after credits start in order to unlock the phone for travel or for use of a second SIM card.

⚠️  if you do not wait for the credits to start, if you pay off with customer support (DIY!) , if you suspend or cancel your line you will lose remaining credits!

I can see the eSIM IMEI on both the S22 and S22 Plus that I purchased for my wife and daughter so the phone hardware is present.  Now, just a matter if AT&T is supporting like on iPhone and Pixel.

I can confirm that I have both of my AT&T numbers operating on my brand new S22 Ultra. The girl at my local AT&T store was more than happy to convert one of the numbers to an eSIM and activate it for me. The trick was to have the primary number on the physical nano SIM installed prior to setting up the second on the eSIM. She also confirmed that I could do the same thing on my S22 as well if I wanted to.

Thanks!  I wonder which number is my primary account.  Looks like my billing has changed and I have a AT&T Unlimited Plus Multi Line account with 4 numbers each billed equally.  I do know which number is the oldest and therefore the original when I opened my account more than 20+ years ago.

@bfukumoto It doesn't matter. I didn't mean the primary account holder number, you just need to have any active number on a physical SIM in the phone before the eSIM will activate. In my case my primary account number is on the eEIM and one of my other numbers on the physical. This drove me and the AT&T staff about crazy because the eSIM kept failing to activate... on just a guess, we installed my still active 2nd nano SIM from my OnePlus 7 Pro and the eSIM successfully activated afterward.

Where do I get the QR Code to scan?  An Enjoy tech is going to arrive at my house in a few minutes and it sounded like he hasn't provisioned the eSIM before himself.  I purchased the S22 Plus as an upgrade to one of my telephone numbers.

You need to go to the AT&T store and get an eSIM for the number you want to use it on. They'll set it up and give you a physical card with the QR code on it.

OK, thanks.  Enjoy tech just left and provisioned the nano SIM to one of my lines.  I will go to AT&T store today to have the 2nd line provisioned to the eSIM.

Hey there, @bfukumoto!

We want to advise that @AZMotherTrucker is correct. You will need to visit your local AT&T Store to pick up a QR Code.

Afterwards, follow these instructions to set up and manage your eSIM (Dual SIM) to use one number for personal and one number for work or for travel.

Hope this info helps. Thank you for reaching out to the AT&T Community Forums.

I went to AT&T Store in Gilroy and the rep was able to get my eSIM provisioned.  All is good on the S22 Plus!
