Dual sim sms issue

I just got a S22 ultra and have a dual(sim amd esim) activated with separate numbers. Only issue so far is that mms can only be downloaded on one or the other, I have to go to setting and choose one to be primary every time I recieve a mms on hje other not chosen as primary at the time the message is recieved.  Is there a way to have both be able to download mms automatically?

Hello hotrodlinc, we're here to help with concern about MMS messages being downloaded with a dual SIM device.

We understand the impact of wanting to know how a device works. You’ll have to choose which phone number you want to use before sending a text, picture, or video message. But you can get messages from either number at any time. Here are some facts about the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra;

  • DSDS capability (up to two lines) is provided by a combination of physical SIM and eSIM.
  • The physical SIM is considered the primary SIM.
  • The eSIM can be installed either by a QR code on an eSIM card.
  • FirstNet: Ready & Available
  • For more information: Samsung eSIM Activation & Troubleshooting
  • See Device Support for more details.

Picture text will not download on esim unless I go to setting and make esim the primary. Then when that is done the SIM will not receive MMS.  It will only allow the primary to receive.  Is tjere a setting where the switching will occur automatically when needed?

Hi, ! Thank you for returning to the Community! Let's answer your question in regard to if there's a setting that will automatically select either the physcial SIM or eSIM as the primary SIM when needed!

No, there isn't a setting available that will automatically select the eSIM as the primary SIM for this specific device. You'll have to manually change the setting as you previously have before. We apologize for any inconvenience this will cause you!

If you run into other service or technical interferences with your device just access our Wireless Support tool, then select Fix my Wireless. From there you will select your device type then navigate back to Fix my Wireless and choose the option that best fits your error. Lastly, follow the prompts and answer the questions asked based on your experience to find personalized solutions.

Please let us know if you have additional questions or concerns.

Thank you for choosing AT&T!
