Cant send messages to group chat Samsung Galaxy J3

I own a Samsung Galaxy J3, but whenever I try to send messages to a group chat with more than 10 people, my phone notifies me, saying that my service provider only allows me to send messages up to 10 recipients at a time. No one else on my plan has this problem, and no one in customer service has been able to help me

Let's see if we can't help resolve that for you, @jonathannye!

We want to know more about your experience. When you're receiving those service provider group limit notifications are the messages still successfully delivering, including SMS and MMS?

There are a couple of steps which may help stop those alerts:

  • If you haven't already make sure to clear your device's cache by powering it completely off, then after several seconds, back on again.
  • Also, make sure to clear the message app as storage congestion can cause unusual functioning with the app.
    1. Swipe down from the Notification bar.
    2. Select the Settings icon > Apps > desired app > Storage > CLEAR CACHE.

Let us know how this worked for you.

No, they wont even allow me to send the message. I tried the steps suggested but it seems it hasnt done anything to solve the problem. I cant send the message because it says my service provider will only allow me to send messages up to 10 people at one time

Thanks for the update, @jonathannye!

Have you ever been able to send text messages in a group setting? If so, has anything on your device or account changed since the last time a message successfully sent?

Also, if you're currently subscribed to AT&T PREPAID that could explain why you're receiving that alert. AT&T has expanded the limit beyond 10 users within group messaging. However, both sender and receiver must:

  • Be postpaid AT&T wireless customers using Advanced Messaging-capable devices that are turned on and in AT&T's owned and operated domestic network coverage.
  • Have accounts set up for HD Voice, but they do not need to be in HD Voice coverage.
  • Have Enhanced 4G LTE Services set to On (Settings > Data Usage > Mobile Data > Enhanced 4G LTE Services).
    • Remove data or messaging blocks.

Additionally, if you're on a Mobile Share Advantage/Mobile Share Flex/Mobile Share Plus plan and have exceeded your data allowance in a billing period, data speeds for all lines on the account are reduced to a maximum of 128kbps.

When this happens, AT&T Video Call and Advanced Messaging is disabled on both the wireless network and Wi-Fi for the remainder of the billing period. It's possible to change your plan to obtain a new allotment of high speed data as specified here.

Keep us informed. We want to help resolve your group messaging experience.
