AT&T ADDRESS BOOK

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN,

After the current AT&T ADDRESS BOOK is retired will, or is there already, another ADDRESS BOOK APP be made and installed to our phones? If not, would you suggest an alternate ADDRESS BOOK APP? Just curious.

Greetings @Nateburge!

Thank you for bringing your question about AT&T Address Book to us. I am pleased to answer all of your inquiries!

As of January 2017 we will no longer offer this service. There is more information provided on the link, as well as steps on to how to ensure your contacts are safely stored.

Back up data for Android:

If you are using an Android device you can select the following link, and get step by step directions on how to back up to your Google account. Back up data for Android will take you through a quick guide to make sure everything is safe.

Back up data for Apple:

If you are using an Apple device, the most convenient way would be to enable backups to iTunes or iCloud. Here is an article to show you how to complete these steps if you need it. It's very easy!

Thank you for using the AT&T Community Forums, have a great rest of your day!

Because google and apple can do it better....  ATT is using the resources it used for address book elsewhere.

How would one with a Windows device back up contacts? I am surprised that this new policy was not actively or widely communicated to wireless customers.

Hello @Shjohnso,

Having your contacts backed up and secure is definitely a wonderful benefit of smartphones, and it keeps your information right at your fingertips. It will be my pleasure to help backup your contacts on your Windows phone!

To back up your contacts and other information, you will want to ensure you are  logged into your Microsoft account on your phone, this will sync the information with other Microsoft sources.

One popular source for the contacts to be stored is Outlook. You can login with your Microsoft account and view the People tile. Your contacts will show here and will sync with your account when you add/delete a contact.

Another option is to use your Gmail account and sync them through the Google service. To set this up, you would head to Accounts in your phone and select Google. Login with your Gmail account and make sure sync is enabled to keep your contacts secure and current!

Thank you for posting on our forum! Have a great day!

Well since we are losing this service, it only seems fair to me that our bills should go down seeing as how AT&T is now creating more work for the individual that's paying the bill each month. What if we don't have a home computer to store all our numbers in? For instance a single male with no kids that does all his shopping locally and checks any and all emails on his phone and pays his bills by check in the mail or automatic payment has no use for a home computer but still needs some way to save all these numbers because they're work contacts that he doesn't see on a daily basis. What is he supposed to do?

I just notified them that this was a service included in my existing contract and I expect it to remain active until them, this is no more then an baggage or carry on fee from a carrier that charges a premium above others for the same carriers,

I guess I'll have to find a carrier that doesn't discontinue services that I pay for without reducing my bill to reflect the decreased amount of services that I am receiving. Thank you for making me go through my contract and past services to see how my current services are reduced in comparison to the services offered when I signed up with AT&T.
