9/15 Samsung announcement re: New Note 7 availability

Hello, everyone. I got an email yesterday from Samsung that said that the new Note 7 units would be available "at retail outlets no later than September 21st." I have a couple of questions about this, mainly directed towards AT&T personnel, but others please chime in if you've heard anything.

1). Do AT&T stores already know about this? If so, would each store know what specific day they will have their units in? (I'm in central Alabama).

2). I was told over the phone that customers will not be allowed to leave with the old Note 7, so if I come in to do a hand-to-hand exchange, will I be alotted time for data transfer in-store? My pics and music are already backed up, this would just be for anything that can't go to the SD card.

You are indeed correct, Samsung has announced that our AT&T stores will be getting inventory of the new Galaxy Note 7 no later than September 21, 2016!

 

We don’t have an exact date of when each store will get inventory, however check out our support article Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Recall & Safety for more specific information! Your local store may also have more insight, so I recommend contacting them as well!

 

The store should definitely be able to assist you in transferring your content over to the new device. I also suggest backing up all of your information though just to be safe! Take a look at our Device Support Center for steps! After selecting your make and model, choose Tutorials > Backup & restore.

 

Personally, I love backing up my information to Samsung Smartswitch for the PC! You can backup all of your information to the computer, to restore to your new device.

Ok, thanks for responding. I called three AT&T stores yesterday and they each seemed to be in the dark about the announcement. Kind of frustrating.

I do apologize that you were not able to find out more information, I totally understand any frustration! Inventory has started to roll out to our stores, and according to the Samsung announcement, they should all have inventory by the 21st. We definitely want to get this taken care of ASAP and again, I am sorry for any frustration and that this happened in the first place.
