5g data connection issues

I work in a downtown area with max 5g service, but when I try to load a web page it will not connect or load. If the website does load it is constantly buffering or takes forever to resume, just scrolling social media at lunch. I never had this issue with Verizon so has anyone else experienced this? I recently switched over from Verizon and I think that this may have been a mistake.

I have a Samsung S21 Ultra if that makes a difference.

We'll be happy to assist you with your connection concerns @Tnmommabear36.

If you are having connectivity issues, you can try resetting your network settings. To do this, go to Settings > General management > Reset > Reset network settings.

If that doesn't resolve the matter for you, please respond with the zip code in your area so that we can check the towers for service issues. You can also try some of this suggestions in this previous forum thread pertaining to low signal and see if they are effective.

Thank you for reaching out to our AT&T Community!

Thanks for providing us with that information, @Tnmommabear36.

At this time, it looks like 5G is not covered in that area just yet based off the towers we confirmed in the area. While in those designated areas you'll need to connect your device to the 4G/LTE network.

We hope this helps and let us know if you have any further questions!

Both areas do not have 5g? I was told I had 5g when I switched from Verizon to AT&T.

Thank you for reaching back out to us Tnmommabear36!

Your work zip code does have 5G wireless coverage but your home area has only LTE coverage. For 5G access, please ensure that alongside having a 5G device with a 5G compatible SIM card, you're in a 5G coverage area and are on our AT&T Unlimited Plans that support the 5G network.

Update your device software to the latest version to ensure that all apps are running on the latest software version. Ensure that you have enough storage on your device as freeing your device storage will help your device run smoothly. Clear your browser's cookies and cache by navigating to Menu>Settings>Privacy(and security)>Clear cache, this helps with resetting your online access.

Lastly, please keep in mind AT&T may temporarily slow speeds if the network is busy. This means during peak times, you may see slower speeds. We do this to make sure everyone has the best experience possible.

We hope this helps! Reach back out to us if you have additional questions. Thank you for reaching out to the AT&T Community Forums!

When I switched I was told there was 5g in my area (78542), and there is, but the 5g give me 0.05 Mb/s i have teied every troubleshooting on both lines in my plan, but noting work, and whatbreally frustrate me is the inavility to turn off the 5g option on my galaxy s21 ultra, so either work on an update that allows us to turn off 5g or fix every single anthena in the área

I completely agree. At&T needs to do something to resolve the issue. Better training for the sales people about what's actually available in your area or allow us to get out of the plan and find something more suitable. I live by an airport and was told I have 5G come to find out I do not have 5g because of that. The funny thing about my short time with AT&T is that I work in a large city that has 5G service. Sitting in the parking lot at work, I have max 5G service but can not load a web page or email. This phone and service are useless to me, I regret leaving Verizon. I do not see a long term future with At&T.

Omg, finally someone with the same exact issue! I went to the AT&T store today and they said that my iPhone’s “Lost Protection” function was the problem and they had it disabled. Once that was done all the setting’s were reset. Same exact issue. So you mean to tell me I have full bars of 5G but I can’t use them it anywhere? Here’s a short list of all the places where 5G with 2-5 bars hasn’t worked: Sarasota, Tampa, Clear Water, Lakeland, Boyton Beach, Delray Beach, Lower Part of Orlando, Bright Line Train Station near airport, Venice, North Port, Punta Gorda, Port Charleotte, Belle Glade, Fort Meyers, Pembroke Pines, so on so forth. Here a list of where my 5G has worked: nowhere. After visiting the store today does my 5G work? No. So like, is it a coverage issue or a phone issue? I didn’t have a problem with Verizon but ever since I switched to AT&T it’s just been a horrible experience. I’m honestly terminating my line this summer because I was promised a good performance but imma be honest it’s sh*******…
