HBO Max

We recently upgraded to the HBO Max deal through AT&T under the impression that HBO Max would be free under the new deal.  When I tried to set it up on the AT&T website, it told me that it was free for the first month then $14.99/month after that.  Am I doing something wrong or is the deal I am under not free to use HBO Max after the first month?

I am not sure if this is related or not but I attached the error message I kept getting when I tried to sign into the HBO Max app using my AT&T info.  I went to the website it told me to go to to see if my HBO Max account was activated and the only thing I found on there was that it was only free for the first month.

I have searched the AT&T website for hours and cannot seem to find where it tells me what plan we have in place.  I recently purchased a new phone and was told by an employee that we could upgrade our plan which would add an additional phone line and we would have access to free HBO Max.  Maybe that explanation gives you an idea to what plan I have with you?
