Swap SIM Card to Different Phone

I already have a prepaid plan and an activated working SIM in my current phone. I ordered a new phone that I'd like to use as my only phone when I receive it.


Can I swap my current functioning SIM to the new phone (yes it is AT&T compatible and an unlocked phone) and just go about using the new phone just fine? Or do I need to update my device info somewhere on the website with the new IMEI also? Or does a new phone need a brand new AT&T Prepaid SIM card that will only be bound to it alone?

Thank you for reaching out. You should be able to swap the SIM card between devices. If the SIM is the wrong size for the new device, go into your neighborhood AT&T Store to get the correct sized SIM card and have it activated quickly.


Don't forget to back up your data so you can move it to the new device. Enjoy your new phone!
