Roaming in Canada for extended period of time
My current prepaid AT&T plan “includes unlimited nationwide calls and messaging in and between the U.S., Mexico, and Canada”. I have heard a rumor that my usage outside of USA cannot exceed my usage within the USA. I am going to spend the majority of the next year in Canada. Can I use my phone with my current plan in Canada for approximately 8 months without a problem, or do I need to get a plan with a Canadian carrier?
thanks,
KM

What is your current plan? There used to be a restriction on usage in Canada but that was removed a few years ago, so unless you have an old plan, you should have no problem.

Thanks for reaching out to us with your concern about your prepaid phone working in Canada, @JazzGuitarMan. We know how important it is to stay connected especially when you are out of the country.
Thank you, @sandblaster and @formerlyknownas for your help and accurate information!
There are no restrictions on your use in Canada in relation to your use in the US, you should be able to call, text and use data while you are in Canada. We understand your wanting to double-check.
We hope this helps! If you have any other questions or concerns, please reach back out to us.

The only concern I see it that some people disconnect from Rogers which is AT&T is roaming partner and connect to Bell. If you find your connecting to Bell instead of Rogers you may have priblems

My phone always connects to Rogers when in Canada. I have the $40 prepaid 15GB plan that is shown under the link to “more great plans” here https://www.att.com/prepaid/plans/
