Prepaid: 25¢ per min plan: how text messages and missed called are charged
Hi,
I am on 40 dollars prepaid plan. I am thinking of switching to 25¢ per min plan plan. I was wondering how these are charged please?
A) If I miss a call?
B) If I miss a call and a person leaves me a voice message? Should I pay money to check my voice mails?
C) What if I receive a text from another person?
D) I have my cellular data off and receive a text message. Will I be charged if I have always my cellular data OFF?
E) Is there a minimum payment to switch to the plan?
Today is my last day and need to make payment to keep my phone active.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

No charge.
Pretty sure your call to voicemail pays the per minute rate.
Texts are $0.20 per text, sent or received
Yes, cellular data has nothing to do with texts.
No but the minimum refill is $10

Thank you very much for the response.
"Yes, cellular data has nothing to do with texts. "
--- In my case it does! When I turn off cellular I don't get any texts!
Assume I refill $10. if I go overseas and come back, turn on my data, I might get bombarded by 1000 text messages! Now, if I change my plan to say 30 dollar plan , and turn the cellular on, it will get charged according to the new plan I suppose. Aren't I correct?
In this case, will I only lose $10?

That is unusual, I’ve never heard of data being off causing texts to stop. Data is required for MMS messages but not SMS. Maybe you only get MMS messages? If so, I believe the 25cent plan charges more for MMS but not sure. In any event, if you change your plan before you receive anything, it will get charged according to the new plan. If you don’t want to pay for a 30 day plan another option is the $2/day plan. It has unlimited texts.

Hello @chikitin we'd be glad to confirm these details about switching to our 25¢ per minute plan.
First, we want to clarify to you that your correct, any kind of text messaging does use cellular data to be processed.
To answer your question about changing your plan when you come back from overseas, your correct as well. With these plans, your not subject to any contracts meaning that you can change at any given time. Your new plan will then correspond with your account at that time.
Let us know how this information helps, and if you have any other concerns!

Didn’t notice that before. You only lose $10 if it expires. A $10 refill expires in 30 days. If it has not expired, you can use it for any plan. If you change to a $30 plan and the $10 is still there, you only pay $20 more to activate the plan.

ATT will only hold text messages for a limited time. Of course that doesn't protect you from abuse. Maybe the $2/day plan is better, since received texts don't count per message, and don't trigger the $2/day fee if you don't answer calls, make calls, or send texts.

@kevink wouldn't it trigger the $2/day fee if I receive a call in my voicemail?

Only if you call in voicemail to check it.

Hi @chikitin,
Please visit our Service Agreement page to check on all of the things that will trigger a charge/fee for this plan. The section with the information is 3.6.2, which goes over each charge on daily plans. Let us know if you have any further questions!
