How soon do I have to activate the 12 month plan?

I want to buy this plan and switch to ATT prepaid but have a couple of months left on another plan.  How soon is activation required?

If you purchase the plan you have 26 days to activate the plan and Port your number. There's no reason to believe that the plan will expire in 2 months. AT&T has been renewing the $300 plans since 2019.

Here's what I did.

To make sure I will have the SIM card ready when I get to the USA in May,

I already ordered a three-month card and had it sent to my brother's house.

Yes, my credit card hasn't been charged yet. And yes, I understand that it won't get charged until I pop the SIM into my phone.

But what I'm worried is, now it is January. There the SIM is sitting at my brother's house for four months before I get there in May. Will it really still work, being that I only ordered a three month ($99) plan? (Just like if I ordered a year plan, but took 13 months to pop the card into my phone.) I suppose the worst that could happen is in April I'll just have to order it again, even though the first one won't be charged. Thanks.
