Help! Activation not working, Phone number shows reserved status

Facts:

1. I ordered an 8GB Prepaid Promo Plan online and provided all the details to port my number from Google Fi to AT&T.

2. Status of porting number shows as 'confirmed' on the ATT page.

3. I have an iPhone 6S.

4. Sim card arrived, inserted the sim card and did the *123.. for the $50 for activation

Problem:

1. Activation seems unsuccessful. Can't make any calls.

2. Prepaid customer service line it will not let me get help unless I enter the phone number, which it tells me doesn't exist, and then hangs up on me.

3. I went to the AT&T store (an authorized retailer). He looks up in the system and says the system shows the phone number is reserved with the IMEI and ICCD details. He did not understand the next step so he asks me to call the customer service line.... repeat step 2... AT&T representative (seems like a new kid) has no idea what to do. I am stuck and frustrated with this experience. Can someone help solve this problem?

Small correction - The AT&T store I visited was NOT an authorized retailer. It was a corporate store.

I Have the same issue but with 2 ipad pros that I ordered. After 5 days of customer service reps on the phone and chat , 3 hours of having a rep at at&t corporate store assist me they all told me to just return the device, acct doesn't exist , a bunch of random stuff I finally got a rep that said 

" IM SORRY THAT YOUR GOING THROUGH THIS, THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING ALOT TO OUR NEW CUSTOMERS. WE NEED TO GET YOU CONNECTED TO OUR IVR TEAM AND THEY WILL activate THE DEVICE FOR YOU"  .... I am on the phone as we speak, wish me luck lol

@McDonald_16 Your issue is not the same as the OP. The OP’s issue was about activating a SIM card with a number being ported. Your issue can’t be the same since you don’t port numbers to iPads. I am going to close this 3 year old thread. Please start your own thread if you need help.
