There is no such thing as a contract sim but to use any sim, put the SIM card into the phone.
Good morning @Angela1980,
Thanks for reaching out to us. It would be a pleasure to assist you with using your prepaid phone on your postpaid account.
Prepaid and postpaid services have 2 different sim card types. To activate your prepaid device on your postpaid line, we advise visiting your local AT&T store to have the sim card provisioned and activated.
You can find a local store near you here. You may also manage the devices active on your account by logging into your MyATT account.
If you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach back out.
Thank you for being a part of our AT&T family.

If you are saying you have a contract SIM, with contract plan, just put it into your ATT prepaid phone. I don't think that this usage counts toward the 6 months of continuous use for unlocking purposes.
