Changing from Prepaid to Postpaid Data Plan

Hi, we currently have ATT prepaid but we are looking to move our 5 lines to ATT postpaid unlimited extra data plan. They are telling me on the phone the only way to do this and keep our phone numbers is to go into a store but I live in Los Angeles and all the ATT stores have been closed for 30 days due to the Coronavirus. Is there any other option for me to switch our lines over and keep our phone numbers? Thank you

So there is absolutely nothing I can do until ATT decides to open up one of their stores in Los Angeles??? That could take 30 days+......What am I supposed to do until then? There must be some sort of option out there. I am going to be working from home and 8 GB per month is not going to be enough.

Other than finding a store that is open, maybe a 25 gig tablet plan?

Based on the link that was provided to me for stores it does not tell me which store is open. How am I supposed to find one that is open???? Is there any way you can let me know which store might be open? If I cant go into a store I dont understand why I cannot do this over the phone? I understand if they need to run a credit check or need to see my ID, I can email a picture of my ID over to you. We are bringing all five phones with us that we already have and all five of us already have ATT sims so I dont understand why we cant get this done over the phone. Extremely frustrating that ATT does not have a policy in place for this given that we cannot go into any stores due to the virus

This is a customer populated Forum not AT&T. I live on the other side of the country. Please scroll down to the store locator at the bottom of this webpage. You may have to go through several stores before finding one that is open

AT&T has a support article on the subject which also directs customers to go to a store to make the switch

In the West Virginia market you can get an unlimited plan with most competitors for $50 a month unlimited including all taxes. I currently pay $90.15 a month for a standard unlimited plan.   I want to take my iphone I own and move it to ATT Prepaid.  Why is it so almost impossible to do?    [EDITED per Community Guidelines]

@TominWV

Please edit your post to remove your phone number unless you really enjoy getting a lot of spam calls. It should be very apparent that this is a customer populated forum and you should have received a warning about posting your phone number which is why you tried to get around it.

Please read the solution post. It was correct last year and it still is today.

Hey there @TominWV, we'd be glad to point you in the best direction with moving your owned device to an AT&T prepaid plan

To better assist you, we'll need to gather some more information from you:

  • Are you currently using this device with another carrier or on an active AT&T postpaid account?
  • Are you using a compatible device that's unlocked with the AT&T network? If you're not sure, you'll need to contact your current provider or manufacturer.

If you currently have an active AT&T postpaid account and you simply just want to switch to an  AT&T prepaid account, you'll need to confirm you've met all switching requirements.

If all requirements are met, you can visit our nearest AT&T retail location to start this process as it has to be done at an AT&T store.

Hope we were able to assist you with the next steps, and let us know if you have any other questions.
