Black Friday deals questions not answered
I am wondering why ATT offers free phones but you need to change your phone number in order to be able to get that deal. That does not make sense to me.
If you are willing to pay for the service why do you need to change the phone number?
I hope a person working for ATT can answer this question for me.
I called into customer service and Jules the person I spoke with told me that she did not know the answer to my question. I do understand that she is not the person who creates the promotions.
I am not upset.
Who else can I talk with about this besides in this forum? I know about the feedback link on the ATT website but it seems to be for the website not about accounts or anything else.
Thanks

The Black Friday sale prices on phones are to lure in new customers. It's not about changing your phone number it's about being a brand new port in from a different service provider so that AT&T has stolen someone else's customer.
This ⬇️ is official!

This is already been discussed. You have already seen the deals online and understand what the Restriction is. There's no point in discussing something when the published deal will be the only deal honored.

The answer is simple. The prepaid Black Friday deals require activation of a new line, the deals are not for existing customers. Why the rep you spoke to didn’t know that, I have no idea. They should have. So you either activate a new line with a new number or you port your number to a different carrier and port it back.
Now there is nothing stopping you from opening a new line to get the deal and then putting your existing SIM card into the phone. You will have to activate on that new line so you’ll have to buy at least one month of service but there is no obligation to keep that line activate that I know of.

All the free phones in the link require a port in from a competing carrier and minimum unlimited service. The discounted phones also require unlimited.
The original poster has a different thread where he indicated he wants to be on the $30 a month plan. Which does not qualify for deals.
