AT&T PREPAIDSM 16GB 12-month plan and previous number

I am interested in getting the AT&T PREPAID 16GB 12-month plan. However, I would like to keep my current number so I was wondering if there is any way to move my current number to AT&T and use the 12-month plan.

Yes, provided your current number is not with ATT. The 12 month plan requires a new line and porting a number from a different carrier qualifies as a new line. An existing ATT number does not.

Sorry, I don’t know where or when you stipulate you are porting a number in the order process but it must be there somewhere as many others have done it.

@sandblaster , thanks. I somehow got it into my head that because I was going to close my old AT&t account and open a new account with the annual plan, that would mean I was like a new customer. I misunderstood. I actually think the deal is so good that I might leave AT&t and maybe come back someday in the future and get the annual plan. The plan I have right now isn't a good one at all compared to what's out there.

Hi we're here to help you transfer your current number to AT&T PREPAID.

As, the ACE @sandblaster mentioned, you can transfer the number provided your current number is not with ATT. The 12 month plan requires a new line and porting a number from a different carrier qualifies as a new line. An existing ATT number does not.

If the number is eligible to transfer, you’ll need to provide information about your current account to begin the transfer process. Review these helpful tips before transferring the number.

Let us know if this information helps, and thank you for contacting the AT&T Community Forums.
