why would my iPhone 7 not work with AT&T

Customer Service said my iPhone 7 IMEI is incompatible.

I spoke to Apple and they said it was a valid IMEI (it was both purchased unlocked and repaired for free by Apple).

Why would this not work on their service? Rep was not knowledgeable on plan features or why this IMEI isn't supported.

(and I have a 5 hour wait for technical support).

Looking at 8gb prepaid plan (if I can make WiFi calling) otherwise next up plan.

Thank you!

I don't know if AT&T has yet to qualify pre-paid plans for WiFi-C. It used to just be avaialable for post-paid AT&T phones (phones that AT&T sells). All of our iPhones since the 5 were purchased from Apple for the AT&T network and have all worked with WiFi-C (with the exception of the 5) on our post-paid plan.

Whoever you talked to is wrong. Any model iPhone 7 is compatible with ATT. What exactly is the problem? If you are getting a "sim not supported" message with an ATT sim card, that means the iphone is locked to some other carrier.

@sandblaster Exactly!!! Some ill-informed Rep I spoke with. My phone is unlocked from Apple - not assoc with any network. It's multimodal. Anywho, I might try to call another rep to get two questioned answered. Awaiting ATT tech support. I also reached out to Apple to ensure accuracy of frequencies and IMEI.

THANK YOU so very much for verifying with me.

I appreciate it!
