SIM card transfer gone wrong - can't make calls!

I recently got a new AT&T prepaid phone. I was told to transfer the SIM card over from my old phone, which I did. I am able to receive and send texts and receive calls, but I cannot make calls. I tried toggling on and off airplane mode and restarting my phone. It hasn't worked. In addition, no WiFi networks show up when I try to connect. What could be causing all this? Any solutions?

Are you absolutely sure you moved a SIM card, not just an SD card which is just a storage card for data and does not came contain your phone number.

If you are unable to connect this phone to Wi-Fi, that would indicate there's something very wrong with the phone. Any phone without a SIM card can still connect to a Wi-Fi connection. It just won't connect to cellular.  If this is the case I suspect it's defective and should be returned immediately as such

Thank you for the timely response. I double checked, and it was a SIM card. As for the WiFi issue, it allows me to connect to AT&T's servers but not to individual networks. I'll try factory resetting it tomorrow. If worse comes to worst, I'll go to my AT&T store in person.

Hi @SIMpleError. Thanks for reaching out to us. We understand, and we're here to clear things up for you.

There are a couple of steps which we can try & troubleshoot. Please refer the following steps below:

  • Turn off Do Not Disturb or Quiet Hours. Some phones have this setting to keep you from getting calls during certain times or while the setting is turned on.
  • Turn off Call Forwarding. Press #21# on your phone and then the Call, Send, Talk, or Receiver key. If your calls continue to forward to another number, learn how to  turn call forwarding on and off.
  • Check the Blocked Calls or Reject List. On some phones, you can block calls from certain numbers or create a reject list to avoid calls you don’t want to get.
  • Insert SIM card. Steps on how to remove and reinsert the SIM card if your phone displays Insert SIM or Emergency Calls Only.

You can go through personalized troubleshooting which can help you as well. Refer here: https://www.att.com/support/article/wireless/KM1062187/

Hi, @ATTHelp

I proceeded to call support. They reset my network, but when I type in #21#, it says "generic error" now. I can only call a few people for some reason. Also, the WiFi issue hasn't been resolved. No networks show up when I try to detect them. What should I do?
