Not receiving text messages on iPhone 7

Ok folks, this is a long one.

I'm having issues with only certain android contacts not being able to get texts through to me.  iMessage is working just fine.

I had some issues with TracFone/Total Wireless and porting, but those are supposed to be all completed and/or canceled.

I had an old iPhone 6s which I sold.  I removed all of the icloud/apple info from it when I reset it.  I now have an iPhone 7.   Still not able to receive texts from androids.   I can get most auto texts or login texts from websites, google voice numbers, etc.....but not from android contacts.

Things I've already tried to no avail:

1. Resetting network settings, resetting phone competely

2. Deleting my contacts on my iphone

3. Having my contacts delete me on their phone and delete all our previous messages

4. Calling AT&T customer service

5. Calling Apple customer service

I'm at the end of my wits with this.

Can anyone suggest a way to solve this?

This does no good.

I do this, and "sign in".  It takes me to my prepaid overview page.  I find the "fix it" link there.  It asks me to sign in again. I do that.  Sends me back to the overview page. Over and over and over again.

Thank you for the response @billw31601.

You can also Troubleshoot Your Device without signing into your account.

  • Scroll down towards the bottom of the page to Fix an Issue.
  • Select your device type.
  • Under Connection select Messaging.

If you are still unable to complete the troubleshooting, let us know we can take a further look.

I reset the network settings.  After attempting to send "Test" to 151 it is not successful.   However I think there may be an issue with a port in or out?

I did port in previously, then left ATT for a short while then came back.

I saw this post from another ATT user on this forum and I am wondering if this may be an issue:

UPDATE: I called ATT support again and finally reached someone who knew what to do and took care of the issue right away. They worked with the "carrier routing" department and were able to fix the issue. My phone number somehow appeared to be ported out of ATT. Strange thing is that calls were not affected. Verizon and Google texts took a few hours but they started coming through as well. Hope this helps someone in the future. And, by the way, it took three calls to tech support, three visits to the ATT store, three sim card changes, and one call to Apple to get this resolved. Do yourself a favor and troubleshoot issues with ATT during regular hours - they seem to be most knowledgeable (and fixed my issue in about 15 minutes).

So should I call back and advise that I'm unable to get the 151 test to work and to check for the above problem?
