We're here to assist you with your call waiting concerns @laura_cinnamon.
We know how important it is to be alerted when another caller is trying to reach you, and we're here to help you with that. Let's start with making sure Call Waiting is on. Go to Settings > scroll down to Phone > under calls click Call Waiting > toggle if off and on.

It's a Calypso 3. And your directions to check call waiting status does not apply. There is no option under the 'PHONE' in reference to CALL WAITING in order to check it.
