Invalid SIM/No Sim Found

I have a AT&T Motivate 2 phone that I bought in December and have had no issues with it until yesterday. It randomly popped up in the corner saying No SIM Card, so I restarted my phone and now it says Invalid SIM. I never take the phone out of its case, I don’t mess with the SIM so there’s no reason for it to be damaged. I’m annoyed and frustrated with this because it makes no sense. I hope someone knows of a solution to this.

This isn't the experience we wanted you to have with your new AT&T Motivate 2, @fml. Let's get to the bottom of this error.

We understand you haven't removed the SIM card from the device, or the phone from its case, ever since purchasing them in December. However, we highly recommend you remove the SIM, as damage isn't the only thing that can cause those errors.

If the SIM card reader is dirty, or has dust or debris in it, then it may be unable to read the SIM card. Try wiping down the SIM card with a small cloth, and use compressed air to clean out the SIM card slot. Make sure to follow our process for inserting a SIM into an AT&T Motivate 2, as if it's inserted incorrectly, it can lead to another Invalid SIM error.

If these errors still continue, then you may need to replace the SIM card entirely. If you don't have one on hand, then order a replacement online or go into a physical AT&T location to pick up a new SIM. We have a store locator you can use to find the nearest store near you, and you can click Store Info to find each location's hours of operation.

Once you have your replacement SIM, just swap it into your Motivate 2 and share the results with us here.

Go to an AT&t store and get a replacement SIM card made for your phone number
