How do I set up call forwarding with prepaid?

I have a galaxy note 9 and when I tried to setup call forwarding from the phone's "call settings-call forwarding", it says "Failed to read data". I then tried to call **21*phone_number# and it shows "call forwading connection problem or invalid MMI code".

Could someone verify if AT&T Prepaid has call forwarding feature at all and if so, what should I do to enable it?

Call Forwarding is available for AT&T PREPAID accounts. We want to know more about your experience.

What is the signal strength of the device, strong or poor? That alert about invalid MMI code usually occurs as a result of no or poor network connection. So that we may investigate, please reply and verify your ZIP code.
Is this a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD)? If so, you may need to program the carrier settings as specified here.
