Changing AT&T Sim to eSim

Hi. I currently use a physical Sim with At&t Prepaid Service on an Unlocked Pixel 8 phone. I have purchased an Unlocked iPhone 14 Pro that has no physical Sim tray. I need help switching phones please.

For PrePaid conversions the only solution is to call Customer Service and they will change it from their end. Thanks.

Hello @Jaysonx5, we're here to help you convert your AT&T SIM to eSIM.


You can convert your AT&T SIM to an eSIM following these instructions: 

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Select Cellular.
  3. Select Add Cellular Plan.
  4. Select Convert to eSIM.
    • Convert to eSIM screen appears advising their plan is associated to a AT&T SIM that can be converted to an eSIM.
  5. Select Convert Cellular Plan.
    • Convert eSIM message displays advising customer once SIM is converted to eSIM it can be removed from the SIM tray.
  6. Select Convert to eSIM.
    • Cellular settings screen appears, the phone number (cellular plan/eSIM) displays in the Cellular Plans section with “Request Sent” indicator.
    • The screen refreshes and the “Request Sent” indicator changes to “Activating”.
    • Once activation completes the “Activating” indicator disappears.
      • The AT&T SIM will be listed in the Cellular Plans section with “Converted to eSIM” indicator.
  7. Complete test call to confirm service is working.
  8. Discard physical SIM in old iPhone (it is no longer active).

Reminder: iOS 15 allows customers with a AT&T SIM to move their rate plan to an eSIM without contacting us for assistance. If customer has an upgrade in process, they must first complete the activation of their new iPhone. Once that is complete, they can convert their AT&T SIM to an eSIM via Settings. Refer to Convert (AT&T SIM to eSIM) or Transfer eSIM on device iOS 15 or later for additional information.
