Why is a new number needed for an upgrade?
My Samsung Galaxy S4 is having battery issues for a while so I called ATT yesterday about an upgrade & the rep said they have a Galaxy S9 for $10/mth for 30 mths. Great! I said I would like that. She said in order to get this promotion I would have to get a new number for a new line. I said What & why?? I said I just want to upgrade my fon! She said I can keep my number with my S4 but would need a new # for the S9. This makes no sense to me. After 1 hr on the fon with her & me needing a new fon, as it dies at various % of use, I stupidly agreed but now it makes no sense & will be hard to remember every company who has my present # which I've had for a very long time. I've been with ATT since before Cingular! The fon hasn't shipped yet as I just checked, but something is very wrong with this! I'm thinking of calling Cust Serv later but don't want to run the risk of it shipping. What should I do? Is something wrong with this scenario?? Just seems ridiculous! Help! Thx!
