Unlock permanently blocked phones

Dear AT&T Team,

I am in the unfortunate situation of accidentally bricking a new LG VELVET phone bought from ebay. I entered the wrong network PIN 10 times (I confused this PIN with the one for my Telekom SIM card).

Unfortunately, I can't meet the requirements for the standard AT&T unlock procedure because I'm not the one who bought the phone (I don't even live in the US, I'm from Romania, Europe). I checked the IMEI online and it is clean (see image below).

In my view, this "feature" of permanently locking phones should not exist at all. There could be damage to private property on which I paid VAT and other US state customs duties and now I end up with an unusable phone due to human error of entering wrong codes in a confusing form interface. This is not acceptable.

Please take appropriate action and unlock your phone with the following IMEI:

(Edited as per community guidelines)

Kind regards,

Aurelian

Unfortunately, there's nothing AT&t can do for you. The only way to remove the permanent lock is with the MCK code which AT&t does not have and the manufacturer can't give to you.

If you were in the United States, you could file an FCC complaint and AT&t could contact the manufacturer for you and attempt to get them to provide the MCK code. But FCC complaints can't be filed outside  the USA.

You aren't a customer of AT&t and you aren't the original purchaser of the phone. AT&t ends its responsibility with the original purchaser.

Thanks for the quick reply. Maybe AT&T could understand the situation and be so kind to ask LG for the MCK code in this case.

That doesn't happen.

Your only option maybe to pay a third party for unlock codes which will include the mck code.

AT&T will not intercede on your behalf because you are not their customer.

Hello AurelianDr, we're here to help you get your phone unlocked.

We do appreciate the information the ACE @formerlyknownas mentioned.

If the phone was purchased from a non-authorized AT&T retailer or site like eBay then you will need to contact the seller to have them submit the request to unlock.

The phone would have to meet all the eligibility requirements to be unlocked.

Let us know if this helps.

Hello ATT Support Team,

Thanks for the detailed response. I will ask the seller if he/she meets all the eligibility requirements for phone unlocking, then revert to you.

Regards,

Aurelian
