Trade in process with next up is “ low key robbery “

Back in December I traded in mine and my Daughter’s I phone with the next up program . I usually go in store and swap out with no problem.
The I phone 14 was on back order so we waited . The new phones came in the mail and we took the old ones to the store near our house and the AT&T employee told us we had to mail them with the return shipping label .

So I use the shipping material and return label that came with the new phone . Took it to the usps tracked it and saw it was delivered . Usually when a package has been delivered you don’t hang on to the tracking number for months .

Well 6 months later . I’m billed almost 900 for two phones they say I didn’t send back.

I KNOW I SENT them so I was baffled . I explained to the rep what I did after I received new phones . She then told me

that I used the new phone return label and it was a common mistake. So I was thinking no problem they should be able to locate them .
NOPE . No one knows where they are . No one can tell me who to talk to or where the new phone even came from . This is total (Edited per community guidelines) . They keep telling me since I don’t have a tracking number they can’t do anything .
I then started doing some google research and this is a VERY COMMON problem and a total scam . How does no one know where two I phones sent to  AT&T new phone warehouse are ? It has my name as the sender . My I phones IEM NUMBERS have to track back to me somehow . Total scam . Easy mistake but nothings been done about it and innocent people keep getting charged bogus charges . Ridiculous
