Switching to Next from 2 Year
Hi,
I am thinking of switching to Next in order to get an iPhone 6+. I have an iPhone 5s I got through AT&T one year ago on a 24 month contract (non Next).
Will I have to surrender my old phone to AT&T when I get the new phone? I was thinking the early trade-in would be part of my Next monthly amount..

You can't get the phone unlocked, as it is still under contract even if you are using a different phone on the line of service. Non the less, it is certainly worth more than $45 as another poster wants you to believe.

i can and did get my iPhone 5s unlocked by AT&T. The second you commit to a new phone you are eligible to unlock the old one. Unlocking raised its value significantly. I sold it to a lady in NYC for $450 on eBay. I think that's more than $45 or whatever.
