Switching to Next from 2 Year

Hi,

I am thinking of switching to Next in order to get an iPhone 6+.  I have an iPhone 5s I got through AT&T one year ago on a 24 month contract (non Next).

Will I have to surrender my old phone to AT&T when I get the new phone?  I was thinking the early trade-in would be part of my Next monthly amount..

Thanks

Does your account say that your are NEXT available? If your account says you are NEXT eligible, then you can purchase a new phone with NEXT and not have to surrender your current phone.

If you account does not say that you are NEXT eligible, then you cannot purchase with NEXT and must wait until your are NEXT eligible.

Great to hear switch my 24 month contract to Next will allow to keep my old phone.

September 17th I logged into att.com in order to drool over the new iPhone 6.  I was shocked to see AT&T offering me the iPhone 6 through the Next program (with 12 months to go with my current phone on my 24 month plan).  After 10 short minutes of nail-biting, I pushed the "Sign up for Next" button and ordered a 128GB iPhone 6 plus in gold.  Contract 18 months with 24 months of payment.  Now if only AT&T would deliver it to me..

I figure I can get my iPhone 5s 64GB unlocked and then sell it to pay for the first 12 months of Next payments.  The 24.95 (?) monthly discount doesn't hurt either.

Actually the discount is $15 for plans under 10 GB and $25 for plans over.

Why would you switch to Next? You are agreeing to pay more...it may look like "less" from the fancy manipulated chart you are shown.

Oh, you get to upgrade sooner??? Well, we all know that phones are virtually worthless after a year...so you'll sell it for $45. What a joke!

it is less if you can do the math yourself.  and since when is a phone only worth 45 bucks after a year.  Just payed off my wifes m8 on next and sold it for 300 bucks on swappa.

The phone is advertised as free...why would I pay a monthly penalty for a
free phone?

because the phone is free the service is not free.  The 25 discount is tied to not having a contract.  you have a contract you pay 25 a month more.  Your still paying for the phone on any carrier.

I am not in contract and receiving the discount currently. So that is not
true

your in a contract but your were grandfathered into the MSV plan. Which is why you get the discount.

So, it is still an option. AT&T has elected to not honor my loyalty.
