SCAMMED by Bj's AT&T Representative
A couple of months ago I was stopped by an AT&T representative at BJ's and I was told that I could get an iPhone XR for $5 a month (for 30 months), and an iPhone 8 for free if I switched to a new plan with unlimited data, talk, text. I agreed to the terms, got my plan changed from 10GB a month to Unlimited, and I was told that I would be charged a normal price for the phone initially but after 4 months, it will revert to the $5 price. Fast Forward to today, I have my bill and I'm still being charged full price for the phones! I talked to AT&T over the phone they are completely UNAWARE of this promotion and can't do anything about it, I go to my local AT&T and they are UNAWARE as well. I go the same BJ's again today, and nobody from AT&T is there! The AT&T booth is there, the times listed are Monday, Thursday - Sunday 11 AM - 7 PM. I sat in BJ's and waited over an hour for a representative to show up, (just in case they were on lunch break) and nobody showed up! I asked a BJ employee for their location, and nobody knows since AT&T is an independent entity in the store. So today, I did some research and would you believe that someone else had the EXACT same problem as me.Click Here. This is ridiculous! I need this fixed ASAP! I didn't agree to this!

Hello,
Not familiar with what BJ's is, but they have a website to get in touch to get that resolved. See here: BJ's Help Center
The iPhone 8 is free with a new line on an Unlimited plan and the iPhone Xr was $5/mo with a new line on unlimited as well. Similar direct offers still show on att.com/deals to compare. I would login at art.com or MyAtt app and chat directly to see why credits didn't appear (should be 1-3 bills maximum, unless something didn't qualify for the offer).

Pretty sure that ATT representative is an independent reseller, not an ATT employee. Unfortunately, ATT is not going to honor anything they sold you if no such promotion even existed. This is a customer to customer forum, not customer support. It is very unlikely you even get a response from ATT here. You can try filing an FCC or BBB complaint. Good luck.

The BJ's independent contractor I spoke to in the store was Great. He was able to walk me through the process and get us set up with the AT&T customer service team while we were in the store. They must of ironed out the kinks that were previously experienced here. I am a family of 5 and was able to upgrade 4 of our iphone 7 & 8 units and receive a free iphone 11 or 11pro. The one phone we had was an iphone 6 which was upgradable but to an XR for $5 a mth. The program was standard unlimited min. text etc. We also received $250 free Amex Gift cards for each phone that we have received. We had to call into AT&T to ask them to waive our $150 activation fee which they did. Also if you are an AARP member you can get additional discounts or first responders etc. on your final bill. This was a newer program over the last 2 months. Hope this helps !!

December 27, 2021, Bj's running the same promo. The representative misleads me on many levels. My first bill close to $800 for 5 lines. I ported over from Sprint, the deal was iPhone 12 for $100 each with trade-in. I told them I didn't want the early upgrade for $5 per line nor was I told it was $30 per line to activate. He told me he was giving me 2 free phones, the phones ended up as Ipads on my account. I was charged activation fees etc for both lines total of $83.00 each. The list goes on, they stopped responding to my text and left me with this mess. I would not recommend using Bj's. I filed a complaint with BBB and with ATT.

It's sad. AT&T knows BJs is doing this and say, hey that's we have you 10 days to cancel. But takes 8 days to receive your welcome pack that mentions this. On top of that, my wife is a teacher and we are supposed to get a 25% discount. The rep tells me after the fact that the account must be in her name to get the discount. ATT and BJs doing dirty business together.

@mosique2003 You have 14 days to cancel, not 10.

I am very very concerned with this BJ AT&T deal. The BJ reward cards for $250 per phone line when switching to AT&T are AMEX reward cards. A very Big problem with them. If you have say five lines and want to pay your old carrier off for the 5 old phones with these cards you cannot. You can only use one card of $250. No more. Not all five as I was told by the the sales Representative (which I asked several times because it was my biggest concern in closing the deal). He said several of his recent customers have done it already. So I called AMEX and they said there is no way to combine these rewards, can't be done and never has been done.. ever, its there Policy. Worse, my old carrier cancelled the one reward card I tried to pay my bill with so I could buy some time to try and straighten it out with the BJ's AT&T Sales person (as promised). Well quess what, now the only card that worked is now a zero balance and will not be back to the $250 for 2 weeks? Really - thats crazy. So now I have 5 cards to keep track off plus have occured a late payment charge from my old Carrier. Also AMEX reward cards will not let you use the last remaining amount left on your card if the item is a higher price then what is left on the card. Only reward card like this. Don't ever use them either. This is panfull tracking 5 cards and the reason I asked several times in the first place. So this is just round 1 of a mess and no telling what I have to deal with to get the actual discounted offer from BJ's. The Sales rep (as is often done - hopping you will forget) is waiting on his supervisor for a solution. Its been a week now - crickets. Mean while, I am risking ruining my credit score over a false Promise(s). DO NOT apply for this deal. I for one will never trust these in store deals again, always walk away its your best move.

BIGGEST SCAM EVER!!! I live in Gainesville, VA and I also was completely lied to by the AT&T kiosk (Vaughn) inside of BJ's Wholesale club. I was promised a monthly bill for around $145 (4 phones and 2 tablets) which is not true. After my first bill was $750, each bill has been over $340.00 and we are going on our 5th billing cycle!!!!! I returned all of my equipment and did everything I was supposed to!
I have been back and forth from the BJs kiosk to the AT&T Store and calling customer care directly - the lack of communication between this well oiled mess leads to a conversation and blame game with employees that flat out say that BJs prices are a total LIE and they apologize that I was approached by them. I finally spoke to "Ryan" who is apparently the "boss" of the BJs kiosk in our area and I was told "he is THE boss" and he doesn't report to anyone (lol). I spoke to Ryan in store and at first, Finally he was incredibly pleasant and I thought he was going to help, but NOPE! He wouldn't return any calls or messages (his own employees saying he doesn't ever return THEIR CALLS). After three weeks, I visited yet again and finally had a response from him saying he escalated my case weeks ago and couldn't remember any details of my case (despite him taking notes as we talked).
So here we are.... I am calling corporate to try and get out of this mess. I don't have a lot of hope but I am persistent and more than anything, I want their false advertising to STOP.

This whole thing at BJ's is such (Edited per community guidelines).&n(Edited per community guidelines)p; I personally would love to spend my days and weekends standing right next to the AT&T kiosk in BJ's to warn potential buyers to stay away.&n(Edited per community guidelines)p; You can read about my experience with them below.&n(Edited per community guidelines)p; I have never been so enraged before.&n(Edited per community guidelines)p; This is the kind of thing that makes people lose their mind and go crazy.&n(Edited per community guidelines)p; These people are taking advantage of people who NEED to save money because they have fallen on financial stress since COVID.&n(Edited per community guidelines)p; But no.....they scam....and I've been paying more than twice a month what I was paying with Verizon.&n(Edited per community guidelines)p; The fact that BOTH BJ'S AND AT&T Allow this to continue is INSANE to me.&n(Edited per community guidelines)p; SHAME ON THEM ALL!!!!
