Question about trade in packaging

I was wondering for those of you that sent in your trade in phone with the shipping materials AT&T provided, did you place it in a box along with the bubble envelope they provided? I am not sure I feel comfortable with sending it only in an envelope in fear it may break, but I also am sure AT&T has their own "protocols" that may void the trade in agreement. Any info would be great. Thanks!
