Purchasing a new BYOD device abroad

I am in Italy for the next 6 weeks.  I am eligible for an upgrade with my current iPhone XS Max.  But I am interested in the Samsung Note20.  Would I be able to purchase a new phone here in Italy and just move my sim card over to it?

Hello, @mmain19,

Thank you for reaching out. The Note 20 should be compatible with our network, but you may need to program the data settings to be able to get full use with it when you return to the US.

There may also be a difference in the size of the SIM card. If so, you may have to replace it and have the new one activated in an AT&T Store.

While outside the US, you can call +1.314.925.6925 from your device for assistance.

Have a great week.

Actually it won't work after 2022.  It won't get wifi calling or volte.  Volte is required.

International phones wont work in the USA when 3g shuts down, and 5g wont work now.
