New Phone Purchase Between Two Different AT&T Accounts

I'm trying to purchase a new phone for my Dad as a gift (surprise) through my personal AT&T account. However, my Dad's existing phone line is associated with his own personal AT&T account. If I purchase the phone through my AT&T account, but it gets used through my Dad's AT&T account, is this as simple as my Dad just transferring his existing SIM card from his old phone to the new one? I appreciate any guidance or advice.

Hi @jcbrooks1991,

Thanks for reaching out! Allow us to assist.

Everything you mentioned will work out fine. The most important part however, will be to ensure that your dad's SIM card is compatible with the new device you're purchasing for him. Assuming everything is good on that end, you shouldn't have any problems whatsoever. If you do run into any issues however, please let us know here.

Thank you!

Thank you for your reply, Collin! Yes, I had wondered about my Dad's existing SIM card, too. He's currently using an old Microsoft Lumia 950, which I found out uses a Nano-SIM card. The Google Pixel 4 XL, which he'll be upgrading to, is also compatible with a Nano-SIM card, so I think I'm good to go. I will certainly reach out again if there are any issues. Thanks again!
