iPhone BOGO WITHOUT Adding New Line

I have two mobile lines with AT&T, and we’ve been loyal Wireless customers since 2008. We just finished our AT&T Next installment and are ready to upgrade to an iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR, but we can’t get the BOGO unless we add a new line. We don’t need a 3rd line!

Other carriers are offering the same deal for new customers, so we could switch and get the same deal with our existing two lines, but we want to stay with AT&T. Why can’t AT&T offer this to retain an existing customer that’s been around for 10yrs?!?!

Sorry, not possible to get the BOGO without a new line. You can open a new line to get the BOGO and cancel one of your others, as long as one of you doesn’t mind getting a new number. Yes, I’d love to see a BOGO offer not requiring a new line too, it just isn’t going to happen. BOGO offers exist to generate new lines, not to keep existing lines. You will find the other carriers do the same thing and their existing customers have the same complaint.

I understand the intent, but it’s complete nonsense and silly when you can add a new line and cancel an old one (extra hoops and costs for AT&T and headache for consumer) or them being willing to lose a customer instead of honoring a promotion.

I doubt anyone disagrees with that but it must make sense to all of the carriers because they all do the same thing.

I actually do need to add a new line, and failed to take advantage of the BOGO last week before it expired.  Any speculation on whether AT&T will offer BOGO (with a new line) again anytime soon?

I’d suggest calling the Loyalty Dept if you are open to doing a 2yr contract. I did that and got $450 off each device.

Thanks!  If I don't have any luck, do you think AT&T will open the BOGO back up before Xmas?

@gthompsonesq

I will warn you the discounted price on a 2 year contract means any discount you get for being out of contract may go away.

My customer service summary warns me (See photo)

I was offered the BOGO deal and was told everything was set.  8 months later I find out that the representative was just trying to make a sale and the BOGO wasn’t even valid at the time he offered it.  Bottom line, I was offered 2 months retro and the rest is my responsibility regardless of the misrepresentation from the employee.

I'm with them for last 6 yrs. and was waiting for the BOGO upgrade offer. In Sep. 2018 I saw this offer and talked to AT&T agent and his manager. This AT&T person offered BOGO upgrade to iPhone 8 of 4 iphones with new 2 yr. DirecTV service. For 3 months I kept on asking for the credits for 2 lines but they keep saying after 3 billing cycles. But after 4 months, they said no, you do not qualify for the BOGO offer. I pursued for couple of months buy did not get.Now I have to pay $2400 instead of $1200. Big cheating going on ... very disappointed with AT&T. At the end of the contract I will go somewhere else.
