Cost effective option after 3g is turned off
I am seeking advice on how to assist my grandmother with upgrading her phone. She currently has a Galaxy s4, but had been notified that it will stop working with ATT ends 3g service. Can we purchase a pre-paid ATT phone and just switch her SIM card? I'm trying to find the easiest, most cost effective way to resolve the issue and this is the best I have come up with.
Thanks for your help,
Kelly

Most people are being offered a free Android phone as replacement. Your grandmother should have received an email with a link to receive her free phone.
If you do not want to wait, yes you can purchase any Android phone or cheap phone that is sold for AT&T prepaid and use it with her SIM card.

Thank you so much! I was hoping that would be the answer.
She doesn't use email, so I'm not aware of any offer for a free phone. Do you know if that is something they would offer at the local store?

Unfortunately no. The only way to redeem the free offer is through the email link. People that have called or gone to the stores have been unsuccessful in connecting with the free offer..

Hi @KDH134! We are here to shed a light on your 3G Sunset device inquiry!
As ACE member stated eligible customers will receive a text message regarding upgrade to 4G/5G devices. A new sim card is also required for the upgrade after the sunset.
We hope this helps!
