BOGO - Fraud
I was having trouble with AT&T service and called in July of 2017 to cancel my service and go to Verizon. AT&T offered me a BOGO on a galaxy S7 if I agreed to stay with them, as long as I signed up for DirecTV. I currently already had 2 lines with them. This was NOT part of the current promotion where you had to add a line. They said it was for me to remain a customer. After the first month I received my bill and there was an installment on both phones, so I called to inquire. They said "don't worry Mr. Broze, you will be charged for 2 months, and then the installmanets will drop off, and you will receive credit for the 2 months of payments. After 2 months, I called back again just to confirm and was told the same thing. I insisted that they notate my account, to which they said they did both times, and that they could see the notes outlining what they offered. TODAY, I called on the 3rd month and they said I was never offered any such deal, and that they will not honor what they offered. I am now stuck with payments on 2 Galaxy S7's and a 2 year contract with DirecTV. I already had 2 nice phones prior to this, and really didn't want DirecTV. This is Fraud by definition. I have been with AT&T for 7 years and have never been lied to or cheated by a mobile company like this in my life. They were rude, matter of fact, and basically told me they can't do anything about it. I asked for them to check their call logs and they told me they cannot for security purposes, and that they cannot also tell me what the notes on all of my previous calls say. BEWARE! AT&T is full of people that do not care about you or what commitments they make to you.

Also, does anyone have a recommendation on how to pursue next steps? AT&T is guilty of FRAUD and lying to me and my family. I want to take this to the next level and was curious if anyone else has recommendations. I have all of my documented calls to prove that this is corruption on their behalf.

Hello @Anonymous!
Welcome to the Community Forums! I hope you are having a nice week so far! I regret hearing that you may have been given unclear billing expectations regarding two phone purchases. I have made recent phone purchases as well and understand the need to know what the cost is. I will gladly help with this today!
Here is a website with information on the Buy one get one promotion. I would like to view your account to make sure everything is correct. Please send me a private message to @ATTCares with your full name, wireless number, and account number.
I look forward to your response! Thank you and have a great rest of your Wednesday.

You might want to double check your bill to see if there are any credits. What they told you about the installments dropping off is wrong. The way every “free” phone offer works is the phone stays on the installment plan for the entire 24 or 30 months but you get a credit each month. Those credits don’t show up until after 3-4 billing cycles.

3 or 4 months later, AT&T is telling me that they never even offered me a Buy One get One to stay on as a customer. This is Fraud.
