ATT Torture - Cannot Upgrade - Over 7 hours of Misery

I have spent 7 hours and 13 minutes on the phone with 19 different AT&T Reps from customer care, web support, the chat, and premiere care.  All I want to do is upgrade my 5 dumb phones that I have owned since Jun of 2013 to Samsung Galaxy S5 phones with zero cost on a 2 year contract.

3 Phones I upgraded on line - no problems.

2 phones only offered five different Apple IPhone 6 phones at significant cost.

NO ONE at AT&T has been able to figure out how to help.

I'm going to Sprint.

UPDATE NO SOLUTION!!

NOW UP TO OVER 9 HOURS, and 22 Reps.  This is absolutely CRAZY!

I was TOLD I get 5 Samsung Galaxy S5's free on a two year plan, with a mobile share plan of 30GB at $130/mon.

NOW I AM TOLD BY THE 23RD AT&T REP THAT EACH PHONE IS ALSO $40 PER MONTH FOR AN ADDITIONAL $200????

AT&T MISLED ME, CHEATED, AND PROVIDES HORIFFIC CUSTOMER CARE

You are trying to buy a phone ATT no longer carries in sub sta tail quantity - leftovers.

The phone is 1 1/2 years old and if they run out, they run out.

Either pick another phone or shop elsewhere.

If want the Samsung S5 then pick up a couple on eBay for $250 each.

Hold the phone.   You are going to pay $600 for 2 year contracts on 5 phones that sell retail for less than half?

You should have come here first.  Your data plan means a $25 discount off line fee IF YOU ARE OUT OF CONTRACT.   Even on ATT site the phone is $500.  But you are going to pay $600

Cancel all the phone orders, you can do so, since you don't have them shipped yet.

Go any where else, and buy the S5 at retail.

Take the 5 phones to ATT for free SIM cards when they arrive.

Your line fee would then be only $15 on each phone, plus the $130 for data.

You are wrong.  If I try to add a new line, there they are.

What do you mean add a line?   Don't you already have ATT service?

You do not have it right.  The data plan is $130/mon. Phones were free with a 2 year contract

You totally don't understand the Mobile share value plan.  The phones have never been free.

You know the line fee you now pay for each dumb phone?  Well the line fee for smartphones if you buy with a contract is $40

if you do not use the 2 year contract, your line fee is only $15

Someone before said my two of five phones could not get the Samsung for free because they were out of stock.  If I try to add a new line, the phones are there.

On your order form?  I assume they are not shipped?

With a 2 year plan, the phones are free.  Not until day 4 and Rep 21 was I informed of the $40 per line fee.

I have 3 out of 5 on my kitchen table.  I am returning them.  I cancel the data plan, and am going to buy new dumb phones and switch to sprint.

Each of your phones has a line fee now, of course they have a line fee.

Did you look at the ATT plan builder?

The Mobile Share Value Plan is ala'carte.    All carriers do it this way now.

data plan

line fee

phones

I buy all my phones off eBay for half what ATT sells them for, activate free and my line fee stays at $15 for each.

Return the phones, yes.  But the half price data plan, no.  Keep it and buy your smartphones online.

Sprint is cheaper because you get what you pay for.  Lousy coverage and 1 GBS of data each at LTE speed, the rest at a 2 G speed.  Since this is your first smartphone, typical use is 2 GBS a month.  My boys use 5-6.  You will need that big data plan and Sprint can't match it.

i have the same data plan, and 6 phones, 2 tablets.  Even with home wifi we use 15-20 GBS a month.
